Soft routing is an additional feature of PacketiX VPN.

PacketiX VPN has always been used as a selling point as a professional VPN product. In addition to this function, PacketiX VPN can also be used as a soft route, this function is very similar to Microsoft's [Routing and Remote Access] function. It not only supports VPN access for mobile users, but also serves as a LAN gateway and is responsible for accessing the Internet through Intranet computers. It is fast, simple configuration and high security.
The soft routing function attached to the PacketiX VPN has never been used in comparison with those dedicated for soft routing. User Access Control and bandwidth restrictions can achieve fine-grained management.
 

As a soft route, the PacketiX VPN Server requires two connections, one connecting to the internet and the other connecting to the Intranet. Easy to install and configure, and quick access for Intranet users and remote users. The cost is low. The PacketiX VPN does not require high hardware configuration on the server. You can simply Configure the server on a PC without a lot of network knowledge.
 
Implementation steps:
The server that installs PacktiX VPN must have two connections, one connecting to the internet and the other connecting to the Intranet switch.
After the PacketiX VPN Server is installed, start the software and enter the management interface. You can see the [virtual HUB management] and various buttons.
Virtual HUB is the core concept of PacketiX VPN. It can bridge with a physical network. The VPN can also be remotely connected to a mobile user to communicate with the LAN.
The recently installed PacketiX VPN Server has a [DEFAULT] virtual HUB by DEFAULT. Multiple virtual hubs can be created, and each virtual HUB can create an independent layer-2 Ethernet network, they are isolated from each other. If it is used as a soft route, use the default virtual HUB.
 
1. First, determine the CIDR block used by the Intranet, such as 192.168.1.0, and then manually assign an IP address and mask to the internal network adapter. Do not fill in the gateway. This IP address is not a gateway, cannot conflict with the gateway.
The external connection Nic can be ADSL dial-up or a fixed IP address connected to the internet.

 
2. Go to the PacketiX VPN management interface, perform bridging settings, click Local bridge settings, select the existing DEFAULT for the virtual HUB, and select the internal connection Nic for the new adapter, click Add local bridge. This step is used to connect the virtual HUB to the internal network.

 
3. Go to manage virtual HUB and create a user for DEFAULT virtual HUB for VPN connection authentication of remote users. If no user needs a remote connection, no user can be created. Enter the user name and password and click OK ].

4. On the virtual HUB Management page, click virtual NAT and virtual DHCP server on the right side, and click Enable SacureNAT ]. This is the key step to enable PacketiX VPN soft routing,
Click SecureNAT configuration to configure DHCP and NAT,

5. On the SecureNAT configuration page, set the IP address of the VM to 192.168.1.1, enable the NAT and DHCP functions, and set the IP address pool of DHCP as needed, such as 192.168.1.10 ~ 192.168.1.200.
The default gateway and DNS are both set to 192.168.1.1. Click OK ],

 
In this case, the configuration of the PacketiX VPN Server has been completed. The intranet user can obtain the IP address through the DHCP service and implement the Internet function.
 
After a mobile user installs the PacketiX VPN Client, start the VPN Client and create a virtual NIC:

 
Double-click Create New VPN connection ],
Host Name: Enter the public IP address of the external connection Nic of the VPN Server,
[Port number]: 8888,
[Virtual HUB] will automatically display [DEAULT ],
[User name and password] enter the user and password created on VPN Serve and click [OK]

 
In this case, the mobile user can establish a VPN connection to the VPN Server. After the connection, the virtual network card of the VPN Client can obtain the Intranet IP address allocated by DHCP on the VPN Server, and then access the Intranet computer, high Security and fast access.
