Session Manager Process SMSS.exe is the first user-state process that starts and monitors the Windows subsystem process after the system starts: CSRSS.exe and Login management process: WinLogon

SMSS.exe Query the location of the subsystem EXE file from the registry and start it

CSRSS is a Windows subsystem process, since NT4 window management and the main implementation of GDI has been moved out of CSRSS into Win32k.sys.

CSRSS oversees all Windows threads and processes, where each process is registered to run after it is created, and also reports logoff when exiting.

CSRSS has the important role of desktop management, terminal login, console management, Harderror report and so on.
