Software professionals should possess four qualities

China has many excellent software talents, but why is it difficult to make large software systems? How should we cultivate Chinese software talents? Zhang yaqin, president of Microsoft Asia Research Institute, today proposed four qualities that must be possessed by software talents, with special emphasis on the team spirit.

Zhang yaqin received an interview with reporters after a speech at the "skilled talents and Made in China" high-level forum today.

In recent years, India's software industry, adjacent to China, has developed rapidly and a large number of software talents have emerged. Some people have suggested that China should learn from India's software development model. Compared with the development of software industry in India and China, Zhang yaqin believes that India has more software production and talents than China, but there are a large number of programmers in India, the so-called "blue-collar software ", the main task is to outsource software companies in the United States, and China does not have to follow India in this regard. The development of the software industry requires not only blue-collar workers, but also a multi-level and three-dimensional talent structure. Less than 50 thousand of Microsoft's 10 thousand employees are programmers, and others are talents in the market, testing, and other fields. 50 thousand of the 40 thousand software talents graduated from China every year are programmed, and the talent structure is unreasonable.

Zhang yaqin claimed to be a technical source. He entered the 12-year-old Chinese Science and Technology University's Children's class, is China's youngest college student, 23-Year-Old completed doctoral thesis won the only full score in the history of George Washington University in the United States, 31-Year-Old won the world's highest academic honor in electrical and electronics fields, became the youngest Member in IEEE's 100 history. He is currently the President and Chief Scientist of Microsoft Asia Research Institute. Zhang yaqin holds 40-50 lectures at the university every year. He is also the Honorary Dean of the four schools among the 35 demonstration software schools tested by the Ministry of Education.

Do software talents only need to be smart? Zhang yaqin's answer is no. He believes that software students must possess four qualities.

First, you must master the simplest knowledge, because the software concept is built on the Basic module.

Second, we need to have a team spirit. China's IT industry has many smart young talents, but the team spirit is not enough, so every simpleProgramIt can be well compiled, but it won't work for large programs. When Microsoft developed Windows XP, 5000 engineers fought for two years and there were 50 million lines of code. Software development requires the coordination of personnel of different types and different personalities to work together. It is difficult to succeed without leading talents and cooperation spirit.

3. Be passionate, love computers, and love software. It is hard to stick to it without love.

Fourth, we must have a long-term vision and an open mind to understand and track global technical standards, rather than just confined to China. At the same time, learning to get along with different people is the key to a person's success.
