2.1.1 Installation Steps

1 Insert the first on the Sun Solaris 8 cd;

2 If there is no monitor/keyboard, use the HyperTerminal terminal under Windows to connect to the sun machine using the wiring described in the preparatory work before installation. When running HyperTerminal, use when connecting: Select Direct connection to serial port 1, baud rate selection 9600, then confirm that start connection, press ENTER to see console login: Prompt character;

The system will automatically boot from the CD and enter the installer directly. 9 Network connectivity: Ask if the computer is networked, choose "Yes";

DHCP: Using DHCP? Choose "No";

11 Enter host name such as: Ws1. S1 R1 and so on;

12 Enter IP address such as: 192.168.8.6;

13) Subnet: The system part of the subnet, select "Yes";

14) Subnet Mask: input mask;

) IPV6: Choose "No";

16) Confirm the information: select "Continue";

17 Configure security Policy: Kerberos Security, choose "No";

18) Confirm the information: select "Continue";

19) Naming Service: Choose None;

20) Confirm the information: select "Continue";

21 Time Zone: Select geographical area, point "set";

22 Time zone: Select "East Asia, People's Republic of China";

23 Date Time: Choose "Continue";

24) Confirm the information: select "Continue";

Solaris Interactive Installer: select "Initial";

Solaris Interactive Installer: select "Continue";

27 Select geographical area: Choose "Asia";

28 Select Software: Choose "Complete Distribution";

29 Select disk: Click on the selected disk, "continue";

30 keep the data: directly select "Continue";

31 Automatic Format File system: Select "Manual Layout";

32 file system and disk format: Select "User ...";

33) Zoning;

34) Start installation;

35 After the system reboot requires the user to enter the root password, please enter two consecutive times:

Re-enter your root password:

36 Specify the media, select "CD" next;

37 The first CD will automatically exit, put the second CD point to determine, automatic installation;

38) Installation Summary. Next, the second disc will automatically exit. Point "Next";

39 Insert the CD and place the third disc (Solaris Languages) point "OK";

40 initialization after the point of installation now;

41 Installation finished: Point Next, CD automatically eject;

42 Remove the CD-ROM, point to reboot;

43 When the Login window appears, log in as root, and select "Common Desktop Environment (CDE)";

44 Open a terminal to Superuser, type the eject eject disc.

45) Installation complete.
