Solution for garbled Chinese Characters in command lines in linux

Source: Internet

When installing Redhat Linux 9.0, if the default language selected during installation is simplified Chinese, the running results of many commands in the command line are garbled after installation. The redhat_config_language command cannot be used to change the default language of the system to English. To solve this problem, we can modify the i18n file in the/etc/sysconfig/directory. Back up the file first, and then change the first line of the file to: LANG = "en_US.UTF-8" if the second line starts with: LANGUAGE =, delete the row to set the font: if SYSFONT = "latarcyrheb-sun16" has a line starting with this: SYSFONGACM =, delete this row to save the file. After the system is restarted, these commands will return an English prompt. Author IThead
