After hard work, the installation image of the DVD ora15 DVD is written into the USB flash disk with liveusb creator. After restart, use the USB flash drive to guide the installation interface smoothly. However, if the installation process requires Internet connection, the installation will be connected. However, after a DSL dial-up is established, the system still prompts that the network connection fails. The installation cannot proceed, but the system can only exit. Depressed, I searched for the internet. I encountered this problem when I installed my DVD image. Some of them were simply installed with a dial, some were installed with any IP segment during the day, and I was barely connected to the Internet at any time, however, the installation still fails. Find the original hard-working Fedora 15 DVD installation image, use liveusb creator to write to the USB flash disk, restart and boot with the USB flash disk, and smoothly enter the installation interface. However, if the installation process requires Internet connection, connect. The reason is that the installation is unavailable in the images folder of the Fedora15 DVD image. because the image file img cannot find the image during installation, the image must be connected to the Internet. If you do not know whether this is a BUG or fedora, you will discard the install. the img file seems to be a Bug. I really don't understand how the dial is successfully installed, and I doubt that I have no spare DVD dial for this experiment, in case of the same problem, the disk will be scrapped.
After searching for the Internet for a long time, it seems that liveusb creator is not enough, so we use syslinux to install the USB flash drive. However, the problem persists. We still need to connect to the Internet during installation, that is, we still cannot find the image file. Crazy, I finally found a solution during the day. Although syslinux has successfully created a USB flash drive, it still cannot find the installation image, you must specify the disk where the image is located, as in the case of hard disk installation. I really don't know what Fedora is doing. Fortunately, after successful installation, Gnome3 gave me some comfort. The complete steps for installing Fedora15 on a USB flash drive using a DVD image are provided for your reference:
1. Download the system boot guide tool software: syslinux, syslinux-4.04 download at http://www.linuxidc.com/linux/2011-05/36594.htmversion
2. After downloading the syslinux-4.04, extract the file to X: \ syslinux-4.04, X is any drive letter besides the U disk;
3. Start Menu -- run, Enter CMD in the run enter open command console, enter X: Press enter, switch to the disk where the software is located, then enter cd syslinux-4.04 \ win32 to enter this folder
4. Enter
Syslinux.exe-m-a-I K: (here, K is my USB drive letter. Replace it with your USB drive letter, which must be followed by a colon );
5. Copy the menu. c32 and vesamenu. c32 files in the com32 folder to the root directory of the USB flash drive;
6. Create the syslinux. cfg file under the root directory of the USB flash drive and edit it (use UltraEdit or editPlus). Write the following content:
Default vesamenu. c32
Prompt 1
Timeout 300
Label linux
Menu label Install a new system or upgrade an existing system
Kernel/vmlinuz
Append linux load_ramdisk = 1 initrd =/initrd. img
Label vesa
Menu label Install system with basic video driver
Kernel/vmlinuz
Append linux load_ramdisk = 1 initrd =/initrd. img xdriver = vesa nomodeset
Label rescue
Menu label Rescue installed system
Kernel/vmlinuz
Append linux load_ramdisk = 1 initrd =/initrd. img rescue
7. Fedora-15-x86_64-DVD.iso extraction (I under the 64-bit, 32-bit i686.iso) inside the isolinux \ vmlinuz, initrd. img TO THE U disk root directory;
8. Extract images \ efidisk. img to the u disk root directory in the Fedora-15-x86_64-DVD.iso;
9. Copy the Fedora-15-x86_64-DVD.iso to the root directory of the U disk;
10. The Boot USB flash drive of the DVD version has been created. The directory structure is as follows:
✓ Fedora-15-x86_64-DVD.iso
Unzip ldlinux. sys (this file is not visible)
├ Vmlinuz
├ Initrd. img
├ Vesamenu. c32
Invalid menu. c32
├ Syslinux. cfg
Elastic images
Incluefidisk. img
Restart the computer, enable the USB flash drive in the BIOS, and then enter the boot interface,
Select the first option, press the TAB key to enter the editing mode, add the linux askmethod to the end, and press Enter.
Then go to the installation interface, select the installation interface language, and select the keyboard
Then the location where the image file is located is selected. Select Hard drive here:
Our image is placed in the USB flash drive. The device name of the USB flash drive is sdc1, so after sdc1 is selected, OK. This successful installation did not prompt the Internet connection, and the tortuous Fedora15 installation was finally completed.
Finally, let's take a look at Gnome3 desktop.
