After installing snmpd on Ubuntu Server 9.10, you cannot access SNMP information from a remote machine.
First look at the port: root @ loulancn :~ # Lsof-I: 161
Snmpd 9641 snmp 6u IPv4 29940 0t0 localhost: snmp
The port is listening on localhost.
Look at the process again:
Root @ loulancn :~ # Ps ax | grep snmp
/Usr/sbin/snmpd-Lsd-Lf/dev/null-u snmp-I-smux-p/var/run/snmpd. pid 127.0.0.1
Yes, there is an additional 127.0.0.1 later. Originally, the Ubuntu server added the snmp listener to the local loopback interface for security reasons.
The/etc/init. d/snmpd Startup File shows that some parameters are defined in/etc/default/snmpd,
Find
SnmpDOPTS = '-Lsd-Lf/dev/null-u snmp-I-smux-p/var/run/snmpd. pid 127.0.0.1 ′
Modify it:
SnmpDOPTS = '-Lsd-Lf/dev/null-u snmp-I-smux-p/var/run/snmpd. Pi'
It's okay to access the snmp of Ubuntu server from another machine!
(SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), formerly known as the Simple gateway monitoring Protocol (SGMP), is used to manage communication lines. Subsequently, SGMP was greatly modified, especially when SMI and MIB compliant with Internet definitions were added: the improved protocol was the famous SNMP. The goal of SNMP is to manage software and hardware platforms produced by many manufacturers on the Internet. Therefore, SNMP is greatly affected by the Internet standard network management framework .)
