IPv6 host address
In IPv4, if a host installs a nic, a typical situation is that the host has an IPv4 address allocated to the NIC. But IPv6 is different. Generally, an IPv6 host has multiple IPv6 addresses, even if the host has only one single interface. An IPv6 host can have the following spof addresses at the same time:
● Local link address of each interface
● The Single Point transfer address interface of each interface can be a local site address and one or more global addresses that can be aggregated)
● Loop loopback) the loop address of the interface: 1)
A typical IPv6 host has at least two addresses: 1. The local address of the link that receives local link information 2. The local address of the site that can be routed or the global address.
In addition, each host must always listen to the information flow on the following multi-point transfer address:
● All node multicast addresses within the local range of the node FF01: 1)
● All node multicast addresses within the local range of The Link FF02: 1)
● Request node solicited-node) multicast address if an interface of the host is added to the request node group)
● Multicast address if an interface of the host is added to any multicast group)
IPv6 router address
An IPv6 router can be assigned the following unicast addresses:
● Local link address of each interface
● The Single Point transfer address interface of each interface can be a local site address and one or more global addresses that can be aggregated)
● Subnet-any router point transfer address
● Other transfer addresses of any point are optional)
● Loop address of the loop interface: 1)
In addition, the router must always listen to the information flow on the following multicast addresses:
● All node multicast addresses within the local range of the node FF01: 1)
● All vro multicast addresses within the local range of the node FF01: 2)
● All node multicast addresses within the local range of The Link FF02: 1)
● All vro multicast addresses within the local range of The Link FF02: 2)
● All vro multicast addresses in the local area of the site FF05: 2)
● Request node solicited-node) multicast address if an interface of the router is added to the request node group)
● Multicast address if an interface of the router is added to any multicast group)
IPv6 and Domain Name System
The IPv6 domain name system supports the following two new features, refer to RFC 1886): Host address AAAA) resource records and IP6.INT domains for reverse resolution.
● AAAA resource record type
The AAAA resource record type is used to resolve A valid domain name to an IPv6 address. It is compatible with the resource record type used by IPv4. The new resource record type is named AAAA because the 128-bit IPv6 address is exactly four times the 32-bit IPv4 address. Below is an AAAA resource record instance:
Host1.microsoft.com in aaaa FEC0: 2AA: FF: FE3F: 2A1C
● IP6.INT domain
The IP6.INT domain is used to provide the Reverse Address-host name resolution service for IPv6. Reverse retrieval, also known as pointer retrieval, determines the host name based on the IP address. To create a namespace for reverse search, all 32-bit hexadecimal numbers in the IPv6 address are in reverse order in the IP6.INT domain. For example, if the full expression for the address FEC0: 2AA: FF: FE3F: 2A1C is: FEC0: 0000: 0000: 0000: 02AA: 00FF: FE3F: 2A1C, in the IP6.INT domain:
C.1.A. 2. F.3.E. F. f.0.0.0.a. a.2.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.0.c. E. F. IP6.INT.
