The name SPL, nothing special, just because the full name is the standard PHP Library so it's abbreviated.

It is an extension introduced in PHP 5.0, of course, the default is enabled, 5.3 can no longer be de-compiled, it defines a series of standard data structures, interfaces and so on, and also provides a convenient way to use PHP AutoLoad system of several methods


