Use the postgres 9.0.3 installation package of the x86_64 binary version downloaded at postgresql.org to decompress it to/opt/pgsql. After using the initdb command to initialize the database
Use the postgres 9.0.3 installation package of the x86_64 binary version downloaded at postgresql.org to decompress it to/opt/pgsql. After using the initdb command to initialize the database, log on to the database using the psql command as usual, and prompt that some dynamic libraries such as termcap cannot be found. Just add the/opt/pgsql/lib directory to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
When psql is used again to log on to the database, the following error is prompted:
Google found that the termcap library is missing, but this library is available in the/opt/pgsql/lib directory: libtermcap. so.2, I gave it a soft link libtermcap. so and then run the psql command again. After installing the system comes with the compat-libtermcap-2.0.8-49.el6.x86_64 software package can be normal run psql command login database. It is found that the termcap package generates a termcap database file under the/etc directory. I backed up the/etc/termcap file, deleted the compat-libtermcap package, and copied the termcap file back to the/etc directory. I can log on to the postgresql database by running the psql command again. It seems that I only need to keep a backup of the termcap file, and then I will use the official Binary Package again to put it in the/etc directory.
(Note: The termcap data file is not required to be installed using the rpm package. libtermcap. so is not used for the library dependency of psql. I don't know why the official binary package requires this library. Now most software uses ncurses .)
