1. View instance name: Show Parameter instance_name

2. Check to see if the database archive is open: Archive log list

3. View SPFile parameters: Show Parameter SPFile

4. View Log file location: Select Group#,member from V$logfile

5. View archived files: Show parameter recovery

6. View the alarm log file (the file that begins with alert under the Bdump path): Show parameter Dump

7. View the Listening status command: Lsnrctl status

8. Turn off the Listen command: Lsnrctl stop

9. Turn on the Monitor command: Lsnrctl start
