The Back-to-school season is coming, and although the students are still busy for the final exams, Intel has not yet officially released the Haswell processor, but over the next few weeks PC makers will be rolling out their summer product lines. Sony recently released a number of mainstream laptops, these new products belong to the "fit" family, to replace the current market e-Series and most of the T products, including low-end fit 14E and fit 15E with plastic material, and fit 14 and fit 15 with the aluminum shell, Optional SSD solid State drive. Sony has set a standard for the summer lineup: 1080p high-definition screens, backlit keyboards, NFC-enabled, and Exmor R cameras for low light environments. It took us a week to test Sony fit 15 laptops, it will be launched later this month, the price is 700 U.S. dollars (equivalent to about 4299 yuan RMB), other fit products of the starting and selling price slightly lower for some 550 U.S. dollars (equivalent to about 3378 yuan). So what is its design and what is its performance? The following evaluation is believed to give you a definite answer.
Exterior design
Since the Fit series is the successor to the entry-level E series and the mid-range T series, its rankings should be somewhere between the two, which is also more loosely designed. In fact, it consists of two different designs of laptops: Fit E Series replaces the E family, while fit series is closer to the T series in design style.
In a few days, we'll list the lower-end fit e-Series parameter configurations, but today we're going to tell you that the high-end Fit series is more beautiful than its predecessors. However fit series and T series have adopted the design of metal drawing process, especially the palm of Fit series products are also used metal wire drawing technology, than the T series more neat and beautiful, easy to make people mistakenly think is made of plastic material. Sony Fit has a black, silver, pink Three colors to choose from, it also has an oversized upper cover to cover the hinge. Frankly, we don't know if this ugly hinge is a real problem to solve, but I still think the seamless connection looks better.
However, you might like the hidden fans of Sony fit 15 laptops: They are not set on either side or at the bottom, but are positioned between the screen and the keyboard. Unless you're looking, you won't know where they are (unless you realize that the computer is hot and you're annoyed and want to see how it's going to dissipate, you'll probably know where the fan settings are). and Sony fit products also discard some of the products often used in the design of the T series of decoration. Even on the keyboard, there are only a few obvious buttons, as well as the green power button and the Vaio assist key (now replaced with a white font before the red looks not too conspicuous).
As we have hinted, a sharper and clearer design does not equate to a more robust and durable machine. One of the first things we noticed was that when we opened the lid on the computer, there was a bit of jitter in the Fit series screen-not on the original T15 model. There are a lot of problems here, from the top to the hinge area, especially when you hold the machine in your hand and it's hard to ignore these problems.
Before we compare with T15, we need to be clear about one thing: Sony T15 is a super computer and will continue to sell. Meanwhile, Sony Fit 15 is a comprehensive laptop-a powerful product that can be used for a variety of purposes. Although fit 15 is thinner, it is heavier than T15, weighs 5.73 pounds, and T15 is 5.18 lbs. So this is a fairly fixed product, you can take it from this room to the room, but most of the time you need to plug it into the power cord (believe us, our battery life test will explain everything). Even so, it is so slim that you can cling to your arm while holding it in your hand. We're pretty sure there's no problem with this hidden hinge, and again, this beautiful design won't do any harm.
As you would expect, the back cover of the Sony fit 15 laptop is covered by an overly long upper cover and all ports are located on both sides. In fact, most of them are located on the left side and DVD burning drives are set on the right, which means that the port on the left is quite crowded and compact. From the forward number, Power Jack, Ethernet interface, HDMI output, three USB3.0 interface, headphone/microphone jack, card reader, Kensington lock hole.
Keyboard and Touch pad
At first glance, Sony fit 15 laptop keyboards and T15 are basically the same: the same chocolate keys, the same letter buttons. There is nothing special about this, except that the FN key and direction buttons become a little bit smaller than the width of the spacebar. Overall, the new layout is the same as the old product, but a little shorter, especially the size of the function button is shrinking. Fortunately, the main keys are not smaller (Shift key).
Although the key distance does not change, there is somehow a difference in the feeling of typing. However, it is clear that Sony has redesigned the underside of the surface. The button itself doesn't feel light, and it's quiet. In short, this is a very comfortable keyboard, but we need more time to use it. Depending on your use of the digital keypad, it takes time to adjust away from the central position and the touch panel on the left.
It is worth repeating that this is indeed a backlit keyboard. In fact, Sony's Back-to-school lineup uses a backlit keyboard design, which is also kept in one machine. And that makes sense: Sony won't waste too much time on the budget machine.
The Sony fit 15 laptop has left considerable room for the touchpad, and we are pleased to tell you that it works reliably. The use of the Bing maps in the magnification of the application is very good, IE10 control of the double finger scrolling is also excellent, for Windows 8 gestures, the touchpad response is also particularly good, sliding from the right side into charms Bar.
Of course, this touchpad also has some problems, that is, the Windows Touchpad frequently problems, in the single point of operation is very difficult to deal with. Sometimes the cursor doesn't get where we want it to, and it stops halfway when we want it to cross the screen. Touch button itself can not provide too much, so even if you successfully move the cursor, the left and right mouse button still makes people feel a bit laborious. In any case, it is still very friendly, especially if the touch driver is running the way they should.
