1. why and how to download and install
1.1 why sourceanywhere
The functions of the sourceanywhere client are not significantly different from Microsoft's visual sourcesafe, but it is important that sourceanywhere can be used on any computer connected to the campus network, in the future, you can develop projects directly in the dormitory and other appropriate places. (Figure 1-1)

2.2 settings in vs2005
Set the source code management client to sourceanywhere in vs2005.
Note: If you set the source code management client to sourceanywhere in vs2005, and directly open the locally saved project that uses VSS as the source code management, this will cause vs2005 to automatically change the source code management client back to VSS, so be sure to set source code management for vs as follows.
First, open sourceanywhere. After logging in, you can view the projects that have not been checked in. A red check mark is displayed before the file name in sourcanywhere. 2-4
Figure 2-4
Check in files that have not been checked in as they were previously performed in VSS.
Then, in sourceanywhere, select the SLN file of the project to be edited, right-click the file and select get latest version (Figure 2-5)
Figure 2-5
Then select the appropriate path (Figure 2-6)
Figure 2-6
After successful import, the sourceanywhere prompt appears at the bottom (Figure 2-7)
Figure 2-7
(Important) before opening the locally obtained project, you must first set up the source code management client of vs2005, open vs, and select tool-Option-source code management. (Figure 2-8 2-9)
Figure 2-8
Figure 2-9
Set the source code management plug-in to sourceanywhere. Then, set the embedded item behavior to 2-10 (the same as the setting in VSS) based on the Environment options ).
Figure 2-10
Close Vs and then open the SLN file obtained from sourceanywhere. The check-in and check-out methods are the same as VSS.
In the future, you can only edit it in a new checked-out project. Do not use the original project. Otherwise, vs automatically sets the source code management back to VSS, in the future, a problem will occur when you open a project that uses sourceanywhere management. In case of a problem, check whether source code management in vs2005 is set to sourceanywhere and open the project obtained using sourceanywhere.
2.3 settings in vs2003
In vs2003, set the source code management client to sourceanywhere.
Setting in vs2003 is relatively simple. You only need to set source code manager to sourceanywhere during installation, or select SCC provider manager from the beginning after installation (Figure 2-11)
Select the current SCC provider as sourceanywhere (Figure 2-12). You can continue to use the original project for development.

2.4 sourceanywhere usage notes
One of the disadvantages of sourceanywhere compared with VSS is that sourceanywhere does not perform a refresh when expanding the tree structure on the left of the interface, so in order not to be blinded by the illusion of sourceanywhere, the best way is to press F5 to refresh.
2.5 re-set the source code management client segment to VSS
If you want to reset the source code management client to VSS, the method is as follows.
