Technical Solution
Based on the requirements of the school's computer lab center and the performance comparison with well-known network equipment manufacturers at home and abroad, in line with the principles of reliability, stability, advancement, adaptability, openness, security and scalability, after many selections and demonstrations, the school finally adopted the products of the US network component company. The network solution topology is as follows:


According to the requirements of the Computer Experimental Center of South China Normal University and the distribution of the Computer Experimental Center, the entire network is designed as a star topology, and the data center of the West Center on the south third floor of the computer science and technology integrated building is the network center, the second-level aggregation switch used by the Office on the first, second, and third floors of the building, the second-level aggregation switch on the east of the third floor in the south, west of the fourth floor in the south, west of the fifth floor in the south, and west of the sixth floor in the south, formed the network of the computer lab center building of China Normal University. The network backbone uses network-managed fiber and copper Gigabit Ethernet technology to form a high-speed link channel. A second-level aggregation switch is a two-layer Gigabit Switch with network management capabilities.
In the West network center on the South 3 floor of the Computer Science and Technology Complex Building, a layer-3 Switch (GSM7324) is configured as the central switch; in the office on the first, second, and third floors of the Computer Science and Technology Complex Building, the two-layer Gigabit Switch GSM 712 can be managed and connected to GSM 7324 using a copper fiber Gigabit; A layer-2 Gigabit Switch (GSM 712) is configured in the distribution rooms on the east, south, 4 west, south, 5 west, and south, respectively. This is far from the GSM 7324 in the central data center, configured with the fiber Gigabit access center switch GSM7324. On the floor of the computer lab center, a total of 9 sets of Network-managed gigabit switches (GSM712) are configured. There are about 17 desktop switches, all of which are Stack switches FSM726S with two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Three new network rooms, three software rooms, eight new innovation laboratories, and three switches for one or two three-tier offices.
The specific configuration of the network device is as follows:
1) Network Center
In the network center of the Computer Science and Technology Complex Building, configure a layer-3 core switch with 24 Gigabit interfaces, and The GSM724 switch. GSM7324 has a 48 Gbps backboard bandwidth and a packet forwarding rate of 35.7Mpps. GSM7324 full port gigabit port switch is very suitable for building small aggregation nodes on campus network, enterprise/campus core. GSM7324 provides many outstanding features, including hardware-based full-line speed, non-blocking multi-layer switching, support for dynamic routes such as RIP/OSPF, flexible deployment of policy-based QoS mechanisms, and rich multicast features, simple and efficient control functions facilitate user management and maintenance. GSM7324 provides line rate switching and Feature Selection for L2/L3/L4 layers without any performance loss for all types of interfaces through the hardware switching structure. Supports a wide range of QOS, ACL, and hardware-based access control lists.
2) L2 aggregation switch:
The design principles of L2 switches aim to improve the manageability, reliability, and scalability of the network, and configure the fully Gigabit ports of the network management layer switch GSM712. In this project, nine GSM712 servers were used. GSM712 has 24 Gbps backboard bandwidth and 17.8Mpps packet forwarding rate. The following are the performance characteristics of the manageable Gigabit Switch GSM712: 10 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 ports, 2 1000Base-X GBIC ports, L2 switching of wire speed, rich L2 functions, two GBIC modules AGM721F, AGM721T module.
3) workgroup access switch:
The FSM726S Ethernet switch, which can be stacked by NETGEAR, is used as the floor access switch to provide a layer-2 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port connection for client devices. 17 FSM726S were adopted in this project. FSM726S performance features: 24-port network management can stack Fast Ethernet switches and each port supports the MDI/MDIX adaptive function (automatically adapts to the cable), with 2 t ports or 2 GBIC slots, 12.8 Gbps switching structure, up to mpps packet forwarding.
