Sp2-0678:column or attribute type can is displayed by Sql*plus

In oracle10g and previous versions of Sqlplus, data for blob or bfile types cannot be displayed directly:
Sql> CREATE TABLE T (b blob);
Table created.
Sql> INSERT into t values (' 1 ');
1 row created.
Sql> select * from T;
Sp2-0678:column or attribute type can is displayed by Sql*plus

In oracle11g, this limitation of Sqlplus has been canceled, and data for BLOB and bfile types can be displayed directly in Sqlplus:
Sql> CREATE TABLE T (b blob);
Table created.
Sql> INSERT into t values (' 1 ');
1 row created.
Sql> select * from T;
B
-----------------
1
