In network data transmission, the data size is usually the same, but the importance of various services varies according to the needs. Therefore, we need to distinguish the priority of all data to ensure the orderly operation of services. For example, a company is holding an important video conference. At this time, a daily network storage task will immediately "courtesy"; if one side of the e-commerce transaction is in progress, the transfer of files on the other side will be delayed. Therefore, an Ethernet switch, as a network hub, must have powerful QOS functions to ensure the smooth operation of key services.

Second, another application requirement brought about by "Multi-business platform" is security assurance. More and more businesses are catching up on the network express train, and many key businesses are not allowed to make any mistakes. At this moment, sudden viruses and hacker attacks are also patronizing from time to time, and network security alarms are constantly sounded, last year, the "Shock Wave" virus caused major damage. To better solve the security problem in the network world, you must make full use of the ACL technology, which further increases the processing burden of Ethernet switches.

It can be seen that the rapid expansion of "Network Society" increases the pressure on the operation of "Big Data and multiple businesses" in the original network "organizational structure". How can we solve the pressure brought by new network applications, how can we better adapt to the challenges of QoS and ACL? From the historical contradictions between applications and technologies, we must use the new technology revolution to improve network data processing capabilities to meet the needs of the new application "productivity" development.

Why did SPOH technology trigger the Ethernet switch revolution?

With the latest hardware chip technology, each port of the Ethernet switch has an independent data processing capability, some functions at the online card level are further distributed to the port to implement port-level data synchronization and exchange.

After in-depth analysis of L2/L3/QOS/ACL/multicast behaviors processed by the Ethernet switch, we can find that different data processing behaviors have different port dependencies: l2, L3, multicast, and other data are forwarded between different ports and associated with multiple ports. Resources of the associated ports need to be coordinated in a unified manner; the ACL and QOS depend on a single independent port, and the Implementation Effect is restricted by the resources of the port. The SPOH technology mode is designed to handle data processing behaviors of independent ports such as ACL and QOS in a distributed manner. It implements port-level distributed hardware processing to achieve simultaneous ACL and QOS processing for different ports.

Specifically, the specific implementation mechanism of the SPOH technology is that, based on the distributed design of online cards, a dedicated FFPFFP: fastfilterprocessor) processing module is provided for each physical port, the FFP module can implement hardware processing QoS and ACL functions, and implement port-level synchronous processing of ACL/QOS for data on the whole machine. At the same time, it forwards L2/L3/multicast data through the line rate of the line card chip, the distributed hardware design from the line card to the port is implemented to effectively distribute traffic and relieve the load pressure on the Line Card ASIC chip, greatly improving the overall data processing capability of the Ethernet switch.

Test condition: the ACL and QOS functions are enabled on each port. The sending port uses the Smartbit device to send 100% data at a high speed at a full load on each port.
