Cause: In most cases, you modified the login password for the server system, which caused the SQL service to fail to start.

WORKAROUND: Change the login password of the SQL Server (MSSQL Server) service to the system login password or log on locally as follows:
In Windows Control Panel – Administrative Tools – Services –sql Server (MSSQLSERVER) – Properties – Login – Password replacement for your new operating system password
Or
In Windows Control Panel – Administrative Tools – Service –mssqlserver– Properties – Login – Change to Local System account
