SQL Server 2012 notes Sharing-48: Backing Up the timeline

The backup timeline is an important new feature in the SQL Server 2012 Database Recovery Advisor page that makes it easier to recover a database based on backup point-in-time.

In the SQL Server 2012 restore Database interface, you can find the timeline.

When we click on the timeline, we can choose to restore the last backup we made, and when the interval of the backup timeline is selected, we will be able to see all the backups available for restoration within a week on the timeline below.

Note: Because the restore to last backup was selected, only the last full backup is displayed, between July 2 and July 3.

We can also select a specific date and time, in the timeline interval can be selected in hours, days, weeks for the interval.

When I select a time line interval of six hours, a backup that is available for recovery from 10:00 to 16:00 is displayed.

When we hit the legend of the database backup on the timeline, we are ready to navigate to the corresponding point in time.

When selecting the timeline interval in hours, you can see a full backup and a transaction log backup between 10:45 and 11:00.

When you select a timeline interval in days, you can see a backup between 6:00 and the next 6:00.
