SQL Server Backup/recovery/Compression Progress Query

The first step is to use Sp_who2 to isolate the SID of the backup (or in the connection properties in the window)

exec Sp_who2

Second, use the following query to get the run (see percent_complete column)

SELECT session_id, request_id, start_time, status, command, sql_handle user_id , blocking_session_id, Wait_type, Wait_time, Last_wait_type, Wait_resource, Open_transaction_count, Open_ Resultset_count, transaction_id, Percent_complete, Estimated_completion_time, Cpu_time, Total_elapsed_time , scheduler_id, reads, writes, Logical_readsfromWHERE session_id=94
