There are several ways in which you can view database information in SQL Server, such as using catalog views, functions, stored procedures, and so on.

2.1> using the catalog view

Use catalog view to view basic database information:

◊sys.databse_files: View database file information;

◊sys.filegroups: View database group information;

◊sys.master_files: View basic information and status information of database files;

◊sys.database: Database and file directory view to view basic information about the database.
