This document describes how to create a SQL Server Analysis Service Project, a data source, and a data source view.

1) Basic BI concepts

One BIBusiness intelligence) system can have up to five layers:

1. A data source layer), which consists of daily operation data, text data, Excel tables, Access databases, and other external data.

2. A data transformation layer data conversion layer), converts the data source layer to unified continuous data, and puts the data into the data storage layer.

3. A data storage and retrieval layer data storage and extraction layer), data warehouse.

4. An analytical layer analysis layer), multidimensional OLAP database, providing analysis basis for decision makers.

5. A presentation layer), report and visualization tools.

For example, you can analyze the same business data from different dimensions.

 

Simply put, a mature enterprise BI system can help decision makers make reasonable judgments from multiple perspectives.
