However, they have made great efforts in their overall design, device finalization, hardware configuration, construction and maintenance, and other aspects.

However, the construction party often ignores the maintenance and installation of the largest number of equipment in the telecom and equipment rooms-cables and optical fiber jumpers, it will cause a lot of trouble for our data center management. Therefore, the author thinks it is necessary to manage the patch cord correctly.

Generally, patch cord management can be divided into five phases: planning, preparation, wiring, testing, and verification.

1 jumper operation Specification

Pre-establishment, no preapproval, and no waste. to do anything, you must make a detailed plan in advance. For jumper management, the current and future requirements should be well planned.

(1.1.1) change request. Various management activities, moves, adds, or changes (MAC) all begin with change requests. The change request must contain all necessary information for starting the planning process.

(1.1.2) search records. After receiving the request table, you should search for the record to determine the circuit path used.

(1.1.3) correct routing. Before determining the correct jumper length, you must first find the optimal route between the ports to be connected. It is generally the shortest route through the horizontal and vertical cable conduit and shall not impede or impede other jumpers or connectors in the distribution frame. Patch cords should be selected to avoid excessive relaxation and ensure the appearance is clean and tidy. When the jumper is too tight, it will increase the tension on the connector. Excessive relaxation will cause trouble to the Jumper management and increase the difficulty of managing the distribution frame.

1.2 preparation

After the patch cord management plan is prepared, the patch cord management plan should be prepared in accordance with the prepared plan. Do as much preparation and research management records as possible before implementing management operations. Determine the location of the port to be connected and reconnected and the label information of the relevant port.

(1.2.1) first check the model of the jumper, and then check the quality of the Jumper. To ensure the patch cord quality is correct, check whether the patch cord is damaged. to check whether the patch cord is damaged, check the appearance of the patch cord first. If conditions are met, check the patch cord with professional instruments.

(1.2.2) Check the location to be connected to avoid physical damage to the connected location.

(1.2.3) clean the Jumper connector and connection part.

There are two methods for cleaning optical fiber connectors: contact and Non-Contact:

Contact cleaning method:

(1) Wipe paper and anhydrous alcohol, with native wood pulp with special processing technology, ultra-low dust, pure texture, efficient water absorption, delicate paper, will not scratch the surface of the erased objects, the optical fiber connector is wiped with low dust wipe paper and anhydrous alcohol;

(2) non-woven fabrics do not produce fiber chips. They are strong and contain no chemical impurities. They are as soft as silk and will not cause allergic reactions. They are not easy to start or lose hair, it is an ideal choice for cleaning fiber connectors or plug-ins during production or testing. It should be wiped with anhydrous alcohol during use.

(3) Cleaning Cotton swabs, specially designed for internal cleaning of ceramic casings, or for cleaning of core face not easily accessible in flange (or adapter;

(4) professional cleaner: The Cleaner for optical fiber connector is equipped with a special roll-up wipe belt. It is packed in a roll-up shell without alcohol. Each clean operation is very effective and produces a new surface, convenient and practical.

Non-contact method:

(1) The ultrasonic cleaning method converts the cleaning liquid into an ultrasonic liquid column and sends it to the end face of the connector. In the same small space, the waste liquid is recycled and sucked clean;

(2) the principle of high-pressure air blowing method is to first apply a cleaner on the connector end face, and then use high-pressure air to blow at the connector end face;

(1.2.4) Check the cleanliness of the Optical Fiber Connector

After the optical fiber connector is cleaned, the end interface must be checked. Generally, a magnifier of 100, 200, or 400 times is used to check whether the optical fiber side is in a clean and contaminated state.

Jumper management personnel, no matter what method is used, it is difficult to clean some seriously polluted connectors. They need to be used with cotton swab and alcohol and other cleaning solutions for processing.

After this series of preparations, it means that the wiring of jumper management can be expanded.

1.3 Wiring

The installation of the distribution frame shall be completed at all stages in accordance with the operating procedures. In jumper construction, knots, burrs, pinch and poor contact may greatly reduce jumper performance. To avoid such problems, consider the following factors:

(1) Bending Radius

The minimum bending radius allowed by the jumper must comply with the operating specifications of the Jumper manufacturer.

According to the standard, the minimum bending radius of unshielded twisted pair wires (UTP) should be four times the cable diameter, and the shielded twisted pair wires should be eight times the cable diameter. The minimum bending radius of a 2-core or 4-core horizontal optical cable is greater than 25mm. If the bending radius is smaller than this standard, the relative position of the wire may change, resulting in lower transmission performance.

(2) jumper tensile and stress

Do not over-use power during wiring; otherwise, stress on jumpers and connectors may be increased, resulting in performance degradation.

(3) bundling

Patch cords do not always need to be bundled. If the patch cords need to comply with the manufacturer's bundling principles, do not bundle them too tightly. Otherwise, it will cause a variant of the twisted pair cable. Do not tighten the wire clip excessively. It is recommended that the jumper be rotated freely. Please use special products, consider selecting products that can be used repeatedly without tools, such as nylon adhesive tape.

1.4 Test

(1) Although patch cord wiring is completed, it may not be deemed that the optical fiber link or copper Link fully complies with the operating specifications or international and national standards of Integrated Wiring, the optical fiber or copper cable test should be conducted, and the test criteria can be determined whether to pass the test criteria only after the test criteria are met.

1.5 Verification

(1) it is worthwhile to spend some time on the final visual check of the connection. Make sure that the jumper is not closed and is not clipped to the cabinet door.

(2) The last step is to close the work order related to the completed change request based on the current configuration update record.

Patch cords are now an important part of the Integrated Wiring System, especially the management of patch cords in the data center project. It is believed that as long as the patch cord management operations are correctly and reasonably performed by the construction management personnel, the entire integrated wiring system will become a truly advanced, scientific, practical, and reliable system.

With a large number of applications of 10G/40G/G networks in the data center, installation and management of field jumpers become increasingly important. The quality of jumper management sometimes affects the overall channel attenuation, good Management ensures that the data transmission in the fiber channel is in the optimal state.
