Start and shut down the AIX System

By default, the system uses the list of boot devices in normal mode to boot. When the machine starts normally, the system completes the whole process of AIX startup, including activating the terminal and displaying a logon prompt on each terminal for multi-user access. You can also activate the hard disk, load the file system, and start the network. Another startup method is the SMS System Management Service ). It can be used to view system configurations and set the device startup list. In the POST phase started by the system, enter SMS through F1. If the system cannot access or forget the root password, you need to start it through the AIX boot CD or system backup. In this way, the system starts and enters the system maintenance mode. Another startup mode is the diagnosis mode. If you do not enter the AIX system, you can use the SMS menu to set and view the system startup list. EXIT and return to the top menu. Run the bootinfo command to view the system architecture type: bootinfo-p. view the system addressing type: bootinfo-y. The system architecture type is as follows: AIX V5.1 supports rs6k, rspc, and chrp, while AIX V5.2 only supports chrp. architecture Processor type description rs6kPOWER typical RS/6000, based on the MCA bus rspcPOWERPower reference platform, based on the PCI bus chrpPOWER general hardware reference platform, based on the PCI bus alog command BOS provides a log management program alog command, which can be used by applications and users to manage logs. The default log types supported by the system include boot, bosinst, and nim. The console records many important information during the boot process. You can use the alog-o-t boot command to view the startup information. If the system cannot be started, you can boot from the CD to the maintenance mode to further view the content of the system boot log. The format of the/etc/inittab file is id: runlevel: action: command. This file controls the system startup process and provides the list of programs to run during system initialization for the init command. System Resource Controller SRC) provides a unified control subsystem interface to control subsystems or subsystem groups. By using a set of commands, administrators can greatly simplify the management of control subsystems. A subsystem is a set of programs or a group of related programs that execute related functions. Subsystems can be divided into sub-services, and sub-services are similar to processes. The Command Format of the System Resource Controller shows the status of SRC: # lssrc-g spooler start subsystem: # startsrc-s lpd refresh subsystem: # refresh-s lpd stop subsystem: # stopsrc-s lpd stop process # ps-ef for processes not started by srcmstr # kill PID for processes started by SRC # stopsrc-s qdaemon close system shutdown command safely stop all activities on the operating system, and the system will close the message to the logged-on user. Prompt that the user's system is about to close. If no option is added during use, the system will display a message on all active terminals using the wall command), and stop all active terminals one minute later, terminate all processes of the system, synchronize hard disk data, detach all file systems, and terminate processes. To enable the system to enter the single-user mode: # cd # shutdown-m if you need to do a series of work before the system is shut down, you can create/etc/rc. shutdown file, write the batch command to this file. The system will first execute the/etc/rc. shutdown FILE command before shutting down. Shutsown parameter flag:-d disables the system from distributed mode to multi-user mode-F immediately stops the system running and does not display information on the terminal-h completely disables the system, similar to the-v parameter, the-I interactive mode prompts the user to shut down the system step by step, send all warning messages to all users-m so that the system enters single-user mode-r shuts down and restarts immediately without the intervention of the operator. -T restarts the computer at the specified time. mmddHHMM-l AIX5.1 will shut down at/etc/shutdown. log records the Environment Management of the log system # the System environment option of the smit system controls many aspects of the System to Stop the system -- run the shutdown command. Assign the Console -- specify or change the system Console. This change takes effect only after the system is restarted. Change/Show Date and Time -- set the Date, Time, and Time zone. Manage Language Environments -- sets the Language environment information of the system. Change/Show Characteristics of the Operating System -- you can set System kernel parameters online. Change/Show Number of Licensed Users -- Change and display the Number of authorized Users. Broadcast Message to all Users -- publish the wall command. Manage System Logs -- Manage different System Logs. Change/Show Characteristics of System Dump -- Manage System Dump Change System User Interface -- use CDE or command line to log on to Internet and Documentation Services -- manage Web Document Service-based configuration. Change/Show Default Documentation Language -- Change/display Default Document Language System Language Environment Management # during the installation of the smit mlang system, the system installs the default language environment and sets the LANG value of the environment variable in the/etc/environment file. The setting of the language environment will affect the operation method, character classification, case-sensitivity conversion, number and currency format, date and time format, and so on. You can use the chlang command to modify the local language of the system. For example, chlang En_GB is used for the PC850 code set, or en_GB is used for the ISO 8859.1 code set, and chlang C is used for the POSIX code set. This command modifies the default setting of LANG environment variables in the/etc/environment file. You must log out of the system and log on again to make the modified language environment take effect.
