The developers of the MySQL project team announced a new software version release model, which aims to create a more dynamic, accessible, open, and understandable development model.
This means that the existing development mode will not be used in MySQL 6.0. The new development model has the following features:
* The major version (trunk) must at least reach the beta level.
* A Milestone version is developed from the beta level and is composed of a major version (trunk) and a branch version (stage tree.
* The Milestone version must meet the RC quality at least and be released every three to six months,
* The milestone version allows you to obtain new features from the branch version and add them.
* A General version is released every 12 to 18 months-GA (General Availability)
* Both versions are supported.
In this development mode, MySQL 5.4, codenamed Azalea, has many important features of MySQL 6.0.
