After you install the Solaris (tm) for ISPs (tm) component, you must:
Configure Sun (TM) Directory services to start the service daemon and any tool processes.
Configure the FLEXLM license server to obtain licenses for Sun Directory Services entries.
Configure the Sun (TM) Internet administrator to initialize the entries that are required in sun Directory services and to register and manage these services from Sun Internet Administrator.
Configure HotJava (TM) to support the Solaris for ISPs software security requirements.
You can access a subset of the services directly from the browser. This chapter discusses in detail how to configure Sun Directory services and Sun Internet Administrator, and how to access these services from sun Internet Administrator and directly from the browser.
Start directory Service
If you select Execute (with reboot) at the end of the installation process, the directory service should start and run when the host system completes the reboot. If you need to start the service manually (for example, if you choose not to reboot and do other tasks before rebooting), start the Service daemon and any tool processes that you want to use. Startup method:
Log on as root:
Change the directory to/ETC/INIT.D.
Start the directory service (and the RADIUS server if you have configured it) by entering the following command:
#./dsserv Start
If you want to start the Sun Directory Services Web Gateway Server, enter the following command:
#./dsweb Start
If you want to start the Sun Directory Services Management Server, enter the following command:
#./dsadm Start
See the Sun Directory Services 3.1 Administration Guide and the Sun Directory Services 3.1 User's Guide for reasons you should choose to start a gateway or administer a server.
Start a license server
Sun Directory Services allows you to make 1000 entries in the directory service before requesting permission to provide more entries. The limitations of these 1000 entries are sufficient for installing Sun Directory Services and the entries required to initialize the Solaris for ISPs software. To initialize more entries, you need a license key. For more information about obtaining a license key, see the license book.
When you have a license key, log on to the computer where the license server is installed and start the license issuance tool.
