In the past two days, I installed a VirtualBox on my laptop. It was mainly because vmware had to register and pay for it. Even though I used the D version before, this behavior was still wrong as a person who relied on programming, so we changed the open-source VirtualBox. At least the fruits of others' work should be respected. In addition, I personally feel that VirtualBox is a lightweight product that has little impact on the system and does not feel as resource-consuming as vmwareworkstation. In addition, I personally feel that VirtualBox is a lightweight product that has little impact on the system and does not feel as resource-consuming as vmware workstation. The second is that the configuration and interface are relatively simple. However, the process of configuring the display resolution is still a detour, which is summarized as follows, hoping to help friends:
My system is as follows:
Host system: Windows XP sp3; sun VirtualBox 3.16 r59338; Virtual System: Ubuntu 9.04 (the above system should also follow suit)
1. Install VirtualBox to Windows XP
2. Install Ubuntu 9.04 on VirtualBox
(The above steps are omitted. If you have any questions, please post a message or refer to the online installation steps)
3. Set the root user password
1) on the terminal line, execute sudo passwd root
2) Select system --> administration --> login window, click the sercurity attribute page, and select allow local administrator login. Then, exit and restart and try to log on as the root user.
4. on the virtual platform, choose "device"> "Install enhancement". You can see the newly mounted VBOXADDITIONS_3.1.6_59338 on the Ubuntu Desktop (your possible version is different from mine ); go to the Ubuntu system desktop, click this disk, open, double-click the VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run (my 32-bit system, other CPUs choose the appropriate), automatic installation is complete, there should be no major problems in this step. Restart the VM.
5. After restarting, set the Ubuntu resolution to 800*600. (Www.linuxidc.com) if the resolution of the display can be set, the following steps are omitted) the solution to this problem is as follows.
1) edit the xorg. conf file and enter sudo gedit/etc/X11/xorg. conf on the terminal.
2) Find the following section in the file and replace it with the following section (note that the indent is the TAB key)
Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Driver "vboxvideo" EndSectionSection "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" EndSectionSection "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Generic Monitor" Device "VirtualBox graphics card "DefaultDepth 24 SubSection" Display "Depth 24 Modes" 1024X768 "" 800x600 "" 640x480 "EndSubSectionEndSection restart the system, solve the problem. If there are still problems, refer to 3) 3) directly use seamless mode, Host + L, which is the default right Ctrl + L key on my machine. If you have any questions, please post a message in this document.
