When you use the TP-LINK security client to manage IPC, a channel is assigned a storage directory and storage size. The current allocation method is: allocate XGB when adding a channel, the corresponding disk will reserve the XGB space for the channel, and the subsequent video files of this channel will be stored in the reserved disk.
As follows:
Before adding a channel, the monitoring disk has 89.9 (about 90 GB) available:
When a channel is added, 40 GB of storage space is allocated to the channel:
As you can see, the available space of the monitoring disk is changed to 49.8 (about 50 GB), and the 40 GB is reserved for the add Channel just now.
Open the disk and you can see that there are 20 2 GB (40 GB in total) files in the disk. These files are all "empty" files, so that the monitoring channel occupies a storage space, subsequent monitoring videos are stored in these files.
Of course, if you delete this channel, the corresponding reserved storage space is also deleted, and the monitoring disk automatically releases the storage space occupied by this channel. Therefore, if you have important monitoring videos, delete the channels with caution.
