★Problems Found

A strange problem was found during an instruction to students on the computer. When students use Word 2000 to typeset a document, they use the "partition layout" function. When the same operation steps are used to "partition layout" different paragraphs of the document, the results are quite different, the problem occurs in the last section of the document. The following describes the operation process and the results:

1. move the cursor to the left blank area of the last section of the document, and double-click the left mouse button to select the section.

2. Click the "column" command in the "format" menu bar to open the "column" dialog box 1.

3. pre-set "three columns" and then press [OK], but 2 is displayed.

ArticleIt is not changed to three columns according to the original settings, but only two columns of text. Some documents have only one column after the three columns are typed in the same case. Why is it normal for other sections of the document to be "segmented and typeset", and the same operation may cause problems in the last section of the document?

★Cause Analysis

After analysis and experiment, we finally found the cause of the problem. It turns out that when we select the last section of the document, we have selected the section mark together, so that there will be no content or symbols after the selected content, because the last page of the document is not full, word treats the last section of the selected document, along with the blank spaces on the subsequent page, as the content for "column layout, the selected text and the blank page are divided into three columns, so the last section of text occupies only one or two columns after the text layout is completed, the number of lines of text displayed after the layout depends on the size of the white space after the last section of the page.

★Solve the problem

After finding the cause, it is easier to solve the problem. There are two ways to achieve this:

Method 1: When selecting the last section of a document, do not select the "section mark". That is, you cannot double-click the section on the left of the section to select a paragraph. You can drag the section to select it.

Method 2: Move the insertion point to the end of the document before the last paragraph is selected, and press enter to mark the last paragraph. After this operation, you can select a paragraph in any way, there will be no rows that do not listen to the command.
