Streaming to devices using Windows Media Player

You can use Windows Media Player to stream digital media from the Player library to devices and computers on your home network. For example, you can transfer music from your computer to stereo or stream video and pictures to your TV.

Before you start streaming, you need to add your digital media devices and computers to your home network and enable streaming of media. Windows will automatically detect devices and computers that you can use in conjunction with Windows Media Player to stream music, video, and pictures. The steps to add a device to a network are different steps to add a device to a network. Typically, you can open it and follow the instructions on the screen or the information that comes with it.

To open a home media stream if the media stream has not been turned on, follow these steps:

1. Swipe from the right edge of the screen to the middle and click "Search". (If you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, and then click Search.) )

2. In the search box, enter media streaming options, click or click Settings, and then click or click Media Streaming options.

3. Click or click "Enable Media streaming". If media streaming is enabled, "Enable home media streaming" on the flow menu will not be available.

4. On the Media streaming options page, uncheck "Allow" on any computer or device that you do not want to stream the media to, and then click or click OK.

To transfer a digital media stream to another computer or device

You can use play to to transfer digital media to another device or computer. Here's how to do it:

1. Swipe from the right edge of the screen to the middle and click "Search". (If you use the mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, then move the pointer down, and then click Search.) )

2. In the Search box, enter Windows Media Player, click or click Apply, and then click or click Windows Media Player.

If the player is currently open and in play mode, tap or click the "Switch to Media Library" button.

3. Click or click the Play tab.

4. Drag the item you want to play from the player Media Library to the list pane.

5. Click or click the "Play to" button, and then click or click the device you want to stream to.

Use the play to control to play, pause, or stop a media stream, and you can switch to the next or previous item in the list.
