Open the Run dialog box to open the Run dialog box on the desktop, press the windows logo key +r to open the Run dialog box. Or, on the Start screen, type Run, and then press Enter. in Windows 10 and Windows Server Technical Preview, in the Start menu, type run in the search box. Run a program as an administrator or other user from the Start screen or Start menu run the program as an administrator on the Start screen or Start menu, navigate to the app that you want to run as an administrator. Right-click the app shortcut or tile, and then click Run as Administrator. Run the program as an administrator from the desktop in File Explorer, right-click the executable file, or right-click the program shortcut on the desktop. Click Run as Administrator. Run the program as a different user do one of the following. Add the run as other user command to the app bar by enabling the following Group Policy settings: User configuration/administrative templates/start menu and Taskbar/show "Run as Different user "command on Start. To start the local Group Policy Editor, type gpedit.msc in the Start screen, and then press Enter. Use the runas command from the command prompt. For more information about how to use the runas command, type "runas/?" at the command prompt, and then press Enter. Open Remote Desktop Connection from the Start screen to open Remote Desktop Connection in the Start screen, type mstsc. In the Search app results, click Mstsc. Open the Remote Desktop Connection from the desktop on the desktop, press the Windows logo key +r to open the Run dialog box. In the Run dialog box, type MSTSC, and then press Enter. Open a command prompt with elevated user rights (run as Administrator) do one of the following. To run the command prompt from the start screen as an administrator on Windows Server R2, type "cmd", and then right-click Command Prompt in the search results, and then, on the shortcut menu, click Run as Administrator. To run the command prompt from the start screen as an administrator on Windows Server 2012, type "cmd", and then right-click theprompt, and then in the taskbar, click Run as Administrator. - On the desktop, press the Windows logo key +r to open the Run dialog box.
- Type the executable file name for a snap-in, and then press Enter.
