1. Specify Tape characteristics
When you do not specify any tape attributes, the Ufsdump command uses a collection of default values. You can specify the cartridge (-c), density (-D), size (-s), and number of tracks (-T). Note You can specify options in any order, as long as the corresponding parameters are in the same order.
2. Use OIC-150 to back up the file system
To perform a full backup of the file system, the user must exit the login and the system must enter Single-user mode. Add Remote-host before the tape device name: You can back up or restore files from a remote drive.
Remote-host:/dev/rmt/unit
For example, the remote tape device is named/dev/rmt/0 and is oak:/dev/rmt/0 on the system oak
Cases:
The following steps complete a 0-level backup of the file system:
1 Enter init s to enter Single-user mode.
2) Insert the tape.
3) Input Ufsdump 0CUF/DEV/RMT/UNIT/DEV/RDSK/CNTNDNS0
where 0 represents a level 0 (full) backup, C indicates a cartridge, and U indicates that the update backup record, F, and subsequent device names specify the device file. Enter the original platter where you want to back up the file system.
4 If a backup requires more than one tape, the Ufsdump command notifies when the tape is replaced.
5 make a label on a tape that has a command, file system, and date.
Incremental backups
1 The system enters Single-user mode.
2 Become superuser.
3 Insert the tape in the tape drive.
4) input Ufsdump [1-9]UCF/DEV/RMT/UNIT/DEV/RDSK/CNTNDNSN
5 Remove the tape from the tape drive and label it.
