SuSELinux10.1 + openSUSE10.2 image installation note (with beryl installation)-Linux general technology-Linux technology and application information. For more information, see the following. SuSE Linux10.1 + openSUSE10.2 image Installation notes (with beryl installation)

This is the installation note I prepared when installing opsnseuse. I hope it will be helpful to anyone who installs opensue!

SuSE Linux10.1 + openSUSE10.2 image Installation notes

1. Preparations for installation (windows will be used for comparison, just to get a better understanding)
1. Leave about 5 GB of free hard disk space in the hard disk to install SuSE Linux. We recommend that you use more space.
2. Download the image file corresponding to the CPU architecture and use software such as winmd5 and hashc1c to verify the MD5 value, which is compared with the downloaded MD5SUMS file. This step is very important. If MD5 is not the same, it indicates that there is a problem during the download process and you need to download it again. If you continue the installation, unexpected situations may occur.
3. Create a directory in a partition, such as E: \ suse. Put the iso image to the directory. (It can also be placed directly under the partition root directory, such as E: \ openSUSE-10.2-GM-DVD-i386.iso)
4. Use the virtual optical drive to load the iso image and copy linux and initrd under the boot \ i386 \ loader or boot \ x86_64 \ loader directory to the root directory (such as E :\).
5. Download Grub for dos, decompress Grub for dos to the root directory of the C drive, modify C:/boot. ini, and add C: \ grldr = "GRUB" in the last line ". Or open the modification in the System Configuration Utility (my computer-properties-advanced-start and fault reply-settings-edit.

Installation 2
1. Restart, select GRUB, and press the C key to enter the command prompt line)
2. Enter find/linux to confirm the partition of the image file. Note that there is a space after find. Obtain the disk (hd0, 6) where the image directory is to be extracted. Because I copied the linux and initrd files to the edisk during the preparation process, the HD value returned by the system is (hd0, 6), 0 indicates the first hard disk, and 6 indicates the edisk in the disk partition)
/Dev/hda5 is a windows D disk.
/Dev/hda6 is an e disk in windows, and so on.
3 input kernel (hd0, 6)/linux (specify the loaded kernel File)
4. Enter initrd (hd0, 6)/initrd (specify the loaded initialization parameters)
5. If there is no problem, enter boot
After you press enter, the system will return a series of data in the system information.
Activating usb devices... done
Searching for info file... Wait a minute or so and then enter the LINUX installation interface.
6. If it is normal, a blue screen is displayed. Select the following:
Make sure that cd number 1 is in your drive select back
Select the specified are language type select simpllified chinese (Simplified chinese)
Choose a keyboard map select english (US)
Select start installation or system for main menu installation, and then select start installation or update
Choose the source medium media select hard disk
Select hda6 for choose the hard disk partition and enter the complete image name.
This example is/suse/openSUSE-10.2-GM-DVD-i386.iso, case-insensitive .)
7. Select an expert-defined manual partition when partitioning. Do not accept the suggestions for automatic partitioning. Otherwise, the computer and other partitions will be formatted. (In this example, only the linux partition to be installed is formatted as ext3, And the mount point is /. Mount other partition mount points Input/Windows/F, etc.) Note: In this example, hard disk installation is selected, so do not mount the disk where the installation source is located; otherwise, the installation fails, after installing the system, you can mount the partition through "Control Center -- Yast2 -- System -- Partition Manager" or modify etc/fstab. Before completing the last step of configuration, the installer will not write anything to the hard disk!
8. You can select the software to add your own needs. Select the sequence and parameters for Grub boot system settings. The language can set English as a secondary language. After confirming that the installation is correct, you can start the installation.
9 The monitor will be selected at the end of the installation. The monitor model does not contain my monitor model, so I chose --> VESA 1026X768 @ 85 kHz, 17 inch, update rate 85 kHz. Click OK to select the test to check whether the selection is correct. Otherwise, a black screen is displayed and the graphic interface cannot be displayed.

Install the atigraphics Card Driver (My is a card, n card installation is relatively simple, you can search for it in a hundred degrees)

You can also use commands to test the 3D drawing speed.

Install beryl:
1. Check whether the desktop effect (xgl + compiz) is normal.
2. Add the Beryl installation source (add the YaST installation source. Make sure that the installation source list contains the 10.2 installation CD or the same power .)
Protocol-HTTP, server name-software.opensuse.org, directory name-/download/X11:/XGL/openSUSE_10.2/
3. Open YaST-software management and delete compiz.
4. Install the beryl package. The following package must be installed using beryl:
Beryl-core (you can compile the beryl plug-in by yourself), beryl-settings, beryl-manager, and beryl-plugins.
4-1 then you need to select a window decorator with emerald and aquamarine in the source. The former is applicable to Gnome/KDE and the latter is only used for KDE. Emerald provides many skin themes, while aquamarine reads KDE's default window settings to decorate the window. KDE users can install both. Emerald requires two packages, emerald-themes; aquamarine, and one package.
* ** Dependency may occur after the application is accepted. I will retain all the selected items. If there is a problem, wait until the installation is complete.
5-1 if you want to automatically enable beryl upon logon, add "beryl-manager" and "beryl-xgl" to "Control Center-session" in gnome.
5-2 if you want to enable it manually, open the terminal, enter beryl-manager, or alt + f2, and enter beryl-manager. You can also find beryl-manager in the application.

After running beryl-manager, you can right-click the diamond icon in the lower-right corner. Log out and re-log on to the Apsara stack console.
