The configuration editor is a good GNOME desktop management tool, but it is not displayed in the default menu of ubuntu.
There are two ways to start the configuration editor. A simple method is to use the shortcut key to open a small window for running the application. Press these two buttons at the same time:
Alt + F2
Enter gconf-Editor
You can also enter start on the terminal.
Then, select the desktop project configuration icon apps> Nautilus> desktop.
Then, if you want to display the following icons on the desktop, select these key values:
Computer_icon_visible (Computer icon)
Home_icon_visible (main folder icon)
Trash_icon_visible (recycle bin icon)
Vomules_visible (automatically attached disk)
OK.
