SWOT analysis is a powerful analytical tool often used in marketing management: s stands for strength (advantage), W stands for weakness (weak), O stands for Opportunity (opportunity), and T represents threat (threat). Market analysts often use this tool to scan, analyze the entire industry and market, access relevant market information, and provide decision-making basis for senior executives. Among them, S, w are internal factors, O, T is an external factor.

Young friends when looking for a job, use this tool to perform a physical examination of themselves, to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and to carefully assess the career opportunities and threats they are interested in.

In general, job seekers should follow these four steps when conducting a SWOT analysis:

1. Evaluate your strengths and weaknesses

Each of us has our own unique skills, talents and abilities. In today's highly divided market economy, one may be able to navigate in one or some areas without being proficient in everything. For example, some people don't like to sit at a desk all day, while others feel numb and nervous when they think about dealing with strangers. Make a list of what you like to do and what your strengths are (if you find it difficult to define your strengths, find some test exercises to do). Similarly, by using a list, you can find out what you are not very fond of doing and your weaknesses. After listing these, mark the strengths and weaknesses that you think are important to you.

Finding your weaknesses is as important as discovering your strengths, because you can make two choices based on your strengths and weaknesses: one is to improve your skills to compensate for your weaknesses, and the other to give up on certain skills that you are not good at.

2. Identify your career opportunities and threats

We know that different industries (including different companies in these industries) face different external opportunities and threats, so identifying these external factors is important to your job search, as these opportunities and threats can affect your first job and future career development. If the company is in an industry that is often influenced by external factors, it is natural that the company will be able to offer few career opportunities and no job promotion opportunities. On the contrary, an industry filled with many positive external factors will provide job seekers with broad career prospects. Please list the one or two industries you are interested in (for example, insurance, financial services or telecommunications), and then carefully assess the opportunities and threats faced by these industries.

3. Outline your career goals in the next five years

Make a SWOT analysis of yourself, and list the four to five career goals you'd most like to achieve within five years of graduating from school. These goals can include: what kind of career do you want to be in, how many people you will be managing, or what level of salary you want to get. Keep in mind that you have to do your best to match the opportunities offered by the industry.

4. Outlining a career action plan for the next five years

This step involves a number of specific things. Please draw up a plan of action to achieve each of the goals outlined in step three above, and give a detailed description of everything you have to do in order to achieve each goal and when to accomplish these things. If you feel you need some outside help, please explain what kind of help you need and how you can get this help. For example, your personal SWOT analysis may indicate that in order to achieve your desired career goals, you need to learn more management courses, so your career action plan should indicate when you will study these courses. The detailed action plan you develop will help you make decisions, just as the company's pre-established plan provides a guide to career managers.

Admittedly, doing this kind of personal SWOT analysis will take up your time and need to be taken seriously, but a detailed personal SWOT analysis is worth it, as you will have a coherent and practical personal career strategy for your reference when you finish your detailed personal SWOT analysis. In today's competitive market economy society, having a challenging and fun-paying career is everyone's dream, but not everyone can achieve this dream. Therefore, in order to make your job search and personal career development more competitive, please take some time to define your personal strengths and weaknesses, and then develop a strategic plan of action, it is important to ensure that the effective completion of it, then your prospects will be brilliant and brilliant.
