System Knowledge: Windows XP Network and file security skills
Are your computers shared with others? If yes, you will be worried about the security of your personal files. If you are using Windows XP, then you can use some simple and efficient settings provided by Windows XP to maintain your file security.

1. How to enable XP to automatically connect to the Internet

IE -- tool -- internet option -- connection, select "dial when the network does not exist", and pull IE to "start". After each boot, you are online! Another method is to enter the link content, deselect the "prompt name, password, credential, etc." check, and then pull the line to "start ".

2. quick access to local area network sharing

Generally, when Windows XP connects to another computer, it will fully check all the scheduled tasks on the other computer. This check will allow you to wait for 30 seconds or more. The removed method is found in the registry.
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrent versionpolicerremotecomputernamespace ".

Under this key value, there will be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} key, delete it, restart the computer, Windows XP no longer check the scheduled task, the speed will be significantly improved.

3. encrypted files and folders

Encrypted files and folders prevent unauthorized users from reading the files and folders. In Windows, you can encrypt files or folders by opening "Windows Resource Manager", right-clicking the file or folder you want to encrypt, and selecting "properties, click the "advanced" button on the "General" tab and select the "encrypt content to protect data" check box (this operation applies only to NTFS file systems ).

When you encrypt a folder, the system will ask if you want to encrypt all the files and subfolders in the folder at the same time. If you choose to do so, all files or subfolders in the current folder and to be added in the future will be encrypted. If you select to only encrypt the folder, the files and subfolders in the folder will not be encrypted, but any files and subfolders added to the folder will be encrypted later. When you encrypt a single file, the system will also ask if you want to encrypt the folder containing it at the same time. If you choose to do so, all files and subfolders added to the folder will be automatically encrypted.

4. Increase the network card transmission rate by 10/100 MB

Select Start> connect> show all connections, double-click the connection used by the network adapter, and click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, select the Advanced tab. Select "Link Speed/Duplex Mode" in the "properties" column, and then change "Auto Mode" to "10 Half Mode" in the "Set Value" column ".

In this way, manually set the 10/100 M Adaptive Nic attribute to 10 M half duplex mode, so that automatic negotiation is not performed between NICs, so that data is always transmitted between NICs at a speed of 10 Mbps, this greatly improves the transmission efficiency between networks. This setting is only valid for some NICs.

5. shared drive or folder settings

With Windows XP, you can easily set the drive or folder to "share", and if you do not want these shared drives or folders to be seen by remote computer users, you only need to add a "$" after the "Share Name" of the shared drive or folder, such as "C $ ". However, when a remote computer user knows the computer name and the username and password of the Administrator and Server Operator, any remote computer user can access the computer through the local area network or the Internet, this also poses a security risk to computers with shared drives or folders. To ensure the security of shared drives or folders, we should disable the server service. After server service is disabled, all remote computers cannot connect to any drive or folder on the computer, but the local administrator can still access shared folders on other computers. To disable server services, go to "Control Panel"> "performance and maintenance"> "Administrative Tools" and double-click the "service" icon, double-click "Server" in the "service" window. The dialog box shown in 1 is displayed. In the "Startup Type" list, select "disabled" or "Manual.

6. Solve the pause problem during WinXP execution

Start-network connection-local connection, right-click, select Properties, select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", click Properties, use the following IP Address: 192.168.0.1, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, in this way, the system will not pause after it is started.

7. Set the folder as a dedicated folder

By default, all folders in Windows XP are open, that is, all users on the machine can use them, which undoubtedly makes important personal data of some users face a serious threat. To this end, Windows XP has added a feature called "folder-specific", which means that after a folder is set to "dedicated folder" in the NTFS file system, this folder can only be used by this user, while other users cannot use it after logging on to Windows XP, which provides convenience for protecting important personal information. To assign a dedicated user to a folder, you only need to move the folder to the "x: \ Documents and Settings \ User Name \" folder (x refers to the partition of the Windows XP installation file ), right-click the folder and select the "properties" option. On the "share" tab, select the "set this folder as a person, so that only I can access it" check box. In this way, when other users log on to Windows XP and want to enter this folder, they will receive a "Access Denied" Warning.

8. Accelerated sharing

This is a great optimization. before finding this optimization, I often break my head in a long wait window to show the shared directories on other hosts.

Generally, when Windows XP is connected to another computer, it will check all the scheduled tasks on the other computer. This is really redundant and will keep you waiting for 30 seconds. It is really bad.

Fortunately, this process can be easily disabled. First, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows/Current Version \ Explorer \ RemoteComputer \ NameSpace in the registry. Here, there should be a {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-87-00AA0060F5BF} key. You just need to delete it. After you restart the computer, Windows will no longer check the scheduled task, and the speed will be significantly improved.
