A lot of users in the XP system installed after the ADSL dial-up software will appear system card dead state, in general, it will take a few 10 seconds to return to normal, this situation became the system suspended animation state. The following will give users a detailed description of the ADSL caused by the animation of the XP system and the reasons for the solution.

Mystery of the revealing system's suspended animation

Under the default installation state, the Windows XP operating system automatically sets the TCP/IP parameters for the network card to the automatically acquired state; Once the Windows XP system starts successfully, it will automatically detect the NIC's configuration parameters to see if the IP address of the NIC is static. If the static IP address of the network card cannot be found, the Windows XP system automatically sends out broadcast information, requesting that the DHCP server in the local area network assign a dynamic IP address to the current workstation; If you cannot successfully connect to a DHCP server on your local area network, windows The XP system uses the dedicated IP address automatic addressing feature to assign a special IP address to the current workstation, which is typically located in the "169.254.0.1~169.254.255.254" network segment.

Now in the virtual dialing operation, because the ADSL modem in the default state has automatically stopped the DHCP function, so that ADSL modem can not be the current Workstation network card to allocate a timely dynamic IP address; and in the Windows XP system when the phenomenon of suspended animation, You might as well take a closer look at the ADSL modem Control Panel, the data signal lights are flashing continuously, wait until the data signal lights stop flashing, the system of suspended animation automatically eliminated; At this point, click Start/Run, and in the Open System run box, type "ipconfig/ All string command, and then click the OK button, and you will see the current workstation's IP address as an address in the "169.254.0.1~169.254.255.254" segment in the resulting window. From the above analysis, we can see that the Windows XP system will be in ADSL dial-up when the phenomenon of suspended animation, mainly the current workstation network card can not get the IP address in a timely manner, so if we in advance for the network card to specify a good IP address, Windows XP system will not be in virtual dialing when the phenomenon of suspended animation.

The coping Shifa of the system suspended animation

As we have mentioned earlier, to eliminate the death of Windows XP system, you must allocate a proper IP address for the current workstation's network card. To do this, you can do this in the following ways:

1, enable the built-in DHCP function

Although many models of ADSL modems have integrated the DHCP function into the device, in the default state, many devices do not have DHCP function enabled; In fact, as long as the built-in DHCP server function to start up, then with ADSL Modem equipment connected to the network card can be in time to obtain a dynamic IP address. To enable the built-in DHCP feature, you can follow these steps:

First need to open the ADSL modem parameter Settings page. Considering now many ADSL modem device default IP address is 192.168.1.1, so you might as well open IE browser, and then in IE Address box directly input "http://192.168.1.1

If you are in IE's address box after entering the previous address, unable to eject the login window shown in Figure 1, you can open the ADSL modem random gift of the operation manual, check the device's default IP address is "192.168.1.1", if not correct, You can re-enter the correct access address in the IE address box so that the screen can eject the login interface shown in Figure 1;

Then, you correctly enter the login ADSL device account name and access password, and click on the "OK" button, you can enter the ADSL Device Parameters Settings window, click the Settings window in the "LAN" tab, and then in the label Settings page shown in Figure 2, click the Drop-down button in DHCP mode, And then select the DHCP Server option from the Drop-down menu that appears, and finally click the Submit button, so that the DHCP functionality built into the ADSL device is officially started. Of course, for this feature to take effect, you also need to be in the ADSL Device parameter Settings window, into the Management tab page, select the "Save" option to save the previous settings, and restart the ADSL device.

Once the above setup is done, once the Windows XP system sends out requests to assign an IP address packet, the built-in DHCP server in the ADSL modem can quickly assign a suitable IP address to the network card of the current workstation, so that when the virtual dialing operation is performed, Windows The XP system will not have a suspended animation phenomenon.

Comment on: This method only suitable for ADSL equipment administrator users, not familiar with ADSL equipment operation and maintenance of friends, please do not randomly enter the parameters of ADSL equipment interface, so as to avoid mistaken parameters, resulting in ADSL equipment can not be normal, efficient Internet.

2. Start Connection Sharing function

As you know, Windows XP system has built-in Internet Connection Sharing, once enabled, Windows XP system will "turn" into a small DHCP server, so that Windows XP system can automatically designate the current Workstation network card IP address as "192.168.0.1", so that when you make virtual Dial-up network card can quickly get a fixed IP address, so the Windows XP system of suspended animation will not happen. When you start the Internet Connection Sharing feature for Windows XP systems, you can follow these steps:

Click the Start/Control Panel/Network and Internet Connections/Network Connections command, and in the Open Network Connections List window, right-click the connection icon that is directly connected to the Internet and execute properties from the pop-up right-click menu.

In the Network Properties Settings window that you subsequently open, click the Advanced tab, and then, in the corresponding tab page, select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection option, and then click the OK button. This allows the DHCP server functionality built into the Windows XP system to take effect.

Comments: Although this method can assign a dynamic IP address to the network card of the current workstation, it is a bit of a fuss and a security threat to the system simply because the Internet Connection Sharing function is easy to open for a single computer.

3, direct distribution of static address

If we assign a static IP address to the network card of the current workstation, then the Windows XP system will automatically find the static IP address of the network card when the virtual dialing is made, so the system will not send the packet that requests the IP address, so windows XP system can not appear system suspended animation phenomenon. To assign a static IP address to a workstation's network card is very simple, you just follow the following steps to operate it:

Click Start/Control Panel/Network and Internet Connections/Network Connections command, in the Open Network Connections List window, right-click the local connection icon directly attached to the ADSL device and execute the Properties command from the pop-up right-click menu;

In the following Network Properties Settings window, click the General tab, and in the corresponding tab page, select the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) option, and then click the Properties button to enter the property settings window;

Select the use the following IP Address option in the window, and then enter "192.168.0.1" in the IP Address box, enter "255.255.255.0" in the Subnet mask text box, and set the DNS and gateway parameters to the default values, and then click OK. This will enable the NIC to have a separate static IP address.
