Tablet PK Netbook (IPAD vs netbook)

Recently, Apple's iPad has been hyped up by Internet users, and it feels that there will be a lot missing without the iPad world.

So what is iPad? Simply put, an iPad is a tablet with the following features:

  • Touch Screen
  • There is no keyboard or mouse, but you can use a pen or a hand to perform operations directly.
  • Plane
  • Lightweight
  • Portable

Compared with the general netbook, apart from touch screen, no keyboard, and mouse, and plane (non-flip), the features are basically the same, why is the development trend of the iPad industry, and the netbook will be marginalized?

Before I draw a conclusion, Let's first look at the iPad configuration!

From the original hardware point of view, it is no different from an ordinary netbook, and has the following Disadvantages:

  • Weak CPU performance (Intel Atom 1.6g CPU in a common netbook)

  • Short standby time (compared with smartphones and e-ink readers)

  • Heavy Weight (the average netbook is around 45KG, and the iPad is a little light, but it is only 50 gib and 100 Gib)

  • Small Screen

  • ...

From a technical point of view, the PK netbook on a tablet does not have many advantages. Why is this not the case?

After my own experience, I have come up with the following points for discussion:

From the perspective of performance alone, the technology does not have any advantages or even some disadvantages. In reality, the strange phenomenon is that users often complain about the slow speed and low performance of the netbook. In contrast, they praise iPad and other high performance and enjoy a good surfing experience!

Why?

Well... you're right. The user's reference item has changed!

Netbook has decided its fate since its birth. Its reference is relative to a more heavy notebook, from the appearance or user operations, is the simplified situation of the notebook. Compared with traditional computer platforms, its low-performance features are exposed!

However, where did our iPad come from? Yes, it's a smartphone. When the reference object becomes a smartphone, the tablet has many advantages. Large Screen

High performance and other advantages have undoubtedly won numerous applause from tablet computers.

From the perspective of the development curve, tablets are moving forward from low-end to high-end, while Netbooks are moving forward from high-end to low-end. It seems that there is no difference, but there is a big difference:

  • Differences in user psychology. The difference in the object of reference allows users to make different requirements for them, even if they are completely the same internally, just the difference in appearance (body. This is because when a user buys a product, he/she has clearly defined his/her needs. If the netbook has been criticized by many users, it can only be a poor life. There is no technical reason.

  • User experience is different. As mentioned above, the netbook evolved from a notebook, so it inherits the operational habits of many traditional computers. This kind of habit is very different from mobile Portable handheld devices. It is out of a disadvantage in practical applications, and tablet PCs lack the advantage at birth.

  • Changes in user information collection habits. From the use of traditional PCs for information collection, to the use of portable devices (such as mobile phones) for information acquisition, This is the trend of the industry as a whole, in addition, this trend has been greatly accelerated in recent years. Fortunately, the tablet computer industry is born in this big environment, and its inherent quality matches this demand. As we often said before, luck determines success or failure! Imagine what would happen if this technology happened 10 years ago? Haha, it may be hard to see whether it will die too :).

The battle between tablets and netbooks is not a battle of technology, but a battle of user experience and user needs. From the very beginning, the battle without smoke has determined who will be the mainstream and who will be the way to technology. Don't gloat the victory for anyone, or be depressed for who is dying or marginalized. What I personally want to consider is what role he plays in this new and old replacement scenario!

Please say it out loud. Do you want to change it to "Tablet" or "netbook ":-)?!
