If someone does not know how to make the OS resolution of VMware, let me share it.

Take VMware-workstation-5.0.0-13124 as an Example

1. Change the disc host to physical drive-> auto

2. Install VMware Tools

Install VMware Tools for each guest OS. Click menu> VM> install VMware Tools,

Then jump out of a plane, click Install,

In WINXP, VMware Tools can be installed directly in the CDROM of guest OS.

In Linux (I use FC3,

Capture vmwaretools-5.0.0-13124.tar.gz to release zookeeper.

Installing vmwaretools will be done by typing a./vmware-install.pl in the resources of the solution scheduler.

1. Enter Linux as root

2. Press CTRL + ALT to enter the main operating system, click the installation prompt in the VMware status bar, or click the Enable VMware Tools sub-menu under the setting menu.

3. Confirm the installation of VMware Tools.

At this time, we have not installed the VMware Tools Package. If you click the menu: devices, you will find that the menu Text of the optical drive is changed to: ide1: 0-> crogram filesvmwarevmware workstationprogramslinux. ISO, which means that VMware uses the Linux ISO image file as the VM's CD

4. Click the Linux interface to go to Linux.

5. Run the following command. Note the case sensitivity.

Mount-T iso9660/dev/CDROM/mnt

Load the CDROM device, then if you enter the/mnt directory, you will find an additional file: vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz. This is the Linux software package of wmware tools, which we saw when we used winiso to open the Linux. ISO file.

CP/mnt/vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz/tmp

Copy the package to the tmp directory of Linux.

Umount/dev/CDROM

Uninstall CDROM.

CD/tmp

Enter the tmp directory

Tar zxf vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz

Enter the decompressed directory

Run the installation command.

In this case, install prompts you whether to back up the previous configuration file. We recommend that you select "Y ".

After installing is complete, enter the start command. Can you see the beautiful Linux Gui?

There is no difference between installing VMWare on Windows XP and installing VMWare on win2000. Just follow the steps,

When configuring the Linux runtime environment, if you really want to play, you should not save too much hard disk space. You also have dozens of GB,

If you have more than two optical drive devices, such as recorders,

Don't forget to set the startup sequence in the environment. If there is an optical drive, the burner will save some time.

In the environment, there are multiple settings for the virtual network card, depending on your needs, if you only want to connect yourself, optional host-only,

After all, there is not much direct Internet access in Linux. You need to set the IP address of the corresponding device in Windows XP and the IP address in Linux.

However, if you select bridged, Linux can automatically obtain the IP address, if your broadband provider can provide automatic IP Address allocation.

But I always feel that the font is ugly when I access the Internet in Linux, and I still like netcaptor for convenience!

There is no difference between installing Linux in VMware and installing it on the actual machine. You can simply set the virtual environment to a CD-ROM drive by following the steps,

Put the CD in the optical drive you set.

It is best to use the text method during installation. Anyway, I am pursuing the installation speed.

It's too early to be happy to have a Linux logon prompt. It's also time-consuming to start XWindow. The VMware website has a dedicated XWindow driver,

You have to download it back and modify the XWindow configuration file according to the instructions on the website. This is usually not the case. I spent most of my time here,

After VMware Tools is installed, you can start XWindow. We recommend that you install VMware Tools immediately after installing the VMware driver and modifying the configuration file,

Less detours.

Now, you can use one machine as two servers at the same time. Use your Telnet tool in WINXP to log on to your own Linux and try remote access,

Note: Linux has firewall settings, and many services are not enabled by default. You can set them in advanced Linux.

The following is a summary of the key points for installing Linux Red Hat 9 under XP and VMWare Workstation 4.5.2. For Record accuracy, we deleted Red Hat and VMWare virtual machines installed in VMware, reset the Virtual Machine and install Red Hat 9, while setting/installing, write the following content. The reason for this is that, for beginners, the omission or unclear details of a small step may lead to the pause of the entire setup/installation process.

This installation is based on the Linux installation of VMware in XP, but I guess that Linux installation in a pure PC system will not be much different. If so, we can say that the installation of Red Hat 9 is as simple as that of windows.

I. Key points for setting vmware workstation 4.5.2

1. Install vmware workstation 4.5.2 (I use the e version ). Click Enter serial number under help and enter the registration code (otherwise the program cannot be used ).

2. Select new virtual machine in the main window and press "Next". Then select "Linux", select your Linux version from the drop-down menu below, and then press "Next ";

3. Press "Browse" to select the directory where the VM is located under XP. The default directory is

C: Document. And settingsqmy document. My virtual machinesred Hat Linux

But I think it is better not to be on the C drive with XP. In addition, the disk where the Virtual Machine directory is located must have enough space, because the installed Red Hat 9 itself has nearly 1.8 GB. After setting the Virtual Machine directory, click "Next ".

4. Select an appropriate network connection. Click "Next ".

5. This step specifies the capacity of the virtual disk. The default value is 4 GB. After adding 6 GB, press "finish ". Virtual machines are displayed on the interface, including memory, hard disk, optical drive, soft drive, Nic, USB controller, and audio adapter. The left part of the interface is the "start this virtual machine" and "Edit virtual machine setting" commands. Click the "Edit virtual machine setting" command to add a part. Click "add" on the pop-up interface and select the part to be added. Note that if the hard disk is removed after the hard disk is added, it does not seem to be deleted from the hard disk under the XP directory. Ask experienced people for details.

2. Start the VM in VMware Workstation 4.5.2 and install Red Hat 9

1. Before starting, first determine whether your Red Hat 9 is a CD or a virtual CD file. I'm Red Hat 9 in http://princo.org: 8080/Linux/RedHat/9.0/ISO/download.

There are a total of seven files under the directory of this website. You can download three of them with the words "386. This is rh9.

2. If you use red hat 9 of a virtual optical disk, you must first install the virtual disc before starting the vmwarevm. The method is as follows:

1) double-click the CD-ROM icon on the right of the VMware interface,

2) In the displayed dialog box, select "use ISO image ",

3) Press "Browse" and select the first among the three downloaded CD files (Note: Repeat steps 2 and 3 during subsequent installation) and then press "OK ".

3. Now you can start the Virtual Machine. Click the "start this virtual machine" command and press OK.

The VM startup screen is displayed.

Note that the cursor is switched between the XP interface and the VMware interface. From XP to VMware, just click in the VMware window. To return from VMware to XP, press CTRL + ALT.

4. Red Hat's CD automatically enters the installation program interface. First, ask if you want to test the optical drive or not. Specifically, press the mouse in the VMware window, press the right arrow on the disk, and press Enter.

5. Then, after selecting the language and mouse, the installer asks if automatic partitioning is required (aotumatic partitioning). I click "Next" directly ". The next page contains three options for aotumatic partitioning. I will select 3rd "keep all partitions and use existing unused space" (keep all partitions and use existing free space ). Then I connected to next.

5. After selecting the system time, the installer must set the root (Administrator) password. After setting up, click "Next" to start the installation.

6. After a period of installation (10 minutes or longer), the installer prompts you to change the second disc. At this time, the new users may feel overwhelmed. The correct method is to find the four small icons at the bottom right corner of the VMware window, double-click the second icon on the left (that is, the optical drive icon), and the dialog box mentioned in Step 2.2 will appear, press "Browse", select the second of the three downloaded CD files, press OK, and then press OK in the VMware window to complete the change of the second disk.

7. When you are prompted to change the third Disk, use step 6 to change the third Disk.

8. After reading the third one, the system asked if the boot disk was used as the boot disk (I did not do it), and then the video card and the like. All of them are default. Select "Exit" and restart the system in VMware.

9. After the restart, the system prompts you to open a personal account and password. Note: Even if you do not open an account here, it is actually not possible. You must create an account name and password here, because you must provide the personal account and password at the time of restart, otherwise, you will not be started. Then I chose the day and listened to the Sound Card (the first time I heard the voice of Linux, it was nice ). Then I asked you if you want to register. I chose no (VMware? It's just a bit fun ). Then I asked if there was any additional installation. I did not install it first, but I got the system done first, so I directly pressed "forward ". Restart the system in VMware.

10. After the instance is started, the user name and password are asked. Enter the account name and password in Step 9 (none of them work !) Then, it is the Red Hat 9 interface. Installation is complete !!!
