The term Responsive web design (rwd,responsive) is presented by Issan Marcott (Ethan Marcotte). He published a groundbreaking article in a List apart, integrating three existing development techniques (elastic grid layouts, elastic images, media, and media queries) and naming them as responsive web design.

Responsive web Design is the front-end industry "people-oriented" embodiment. The purpose of the web is to make the information better communicated, convenient for people to access information without obstacles. And the page is people to obtain, transmit information of an interface, information are displayed in the Web page, so the quality of Web page design will directly affect the user experience (of course, there are some other aspects of the user experience). Note, do not think that the responsive web design is very high-end, it is just for granted, but we did not have this consciousness, and now think of, proof of thought slowly enlightened. because of the rapid development of our mobile Internet, more and more people use various devices to surf the internet, so responsive web design comes into being.

So, what should be the principle of responsive web design, first of all content priority, then mobile first, and then incremental enhancement. I think a site is the most important content, the page design is good, the user experience is great, the content is not clear, it will not have a long-term development. Mobile first, to start from the mobile side of the design, because the mobile side of the screen is small, the content is limited, so you can know what is the most important, should focus on the display. Progressive enhancement, first of all to ensure that the minimum version of the browser has the most basic functions, do not affect the use, and then add new features or performance to the higher version of the browser, and graceful downgrade just as the gradual enhancement opposite, did not understand their differences, think the results are the same, now feel that the way of thinking, the results will be different.

Responsive web design not only responds to different types of devices, but also responds to the needs of different users.
