When hard disks are not detected in the BIOS or an error is reported, many people will discard them. In fact, if the disk rotation sound can be heard during self-check after the boot, it is estimated that the main motor and the control circuit board are not faulty and there is still room for recovery. It should be noted that the hard disk is a precision device, which is very fragile. You should first wash your hands before maintenance, release the remaining static electricity of the human body before the operation.

Hard Disk cannot be found

For a hard disk with an error message "HDD Not Detected", first check whether the interface of the hard disk's external data signal line is deformed and whether the interface solder joint has virtual soldering. Remove the back cover of the hard disk to expose the circuit control panel. Unscrew the fixing screws on the Control Panel to separate the control panel from the hard drive. At this time, you can see two lines of spring clips on the hard drive. One row serves as the power supply of the main motor, the other is the power supply of the drive coil of the head manipulator as the hard drive body, and the data transmission interface between the hard drive body and the circuit control panel. For Hard Disks without special encapsulation, it is often possible to see the dust on the spring and the corresponding part of the control circuit board. Use skim cotton dipped in anhydrous alcohol to clean, shape the deformation of the spring film, and remove the oxide layer, generally can recover to normal.

If the above processing is invalid, you have to open the hard disk subject. Select an environment with little dust and unscrew the hard drive's front cover (some are glued ). Remove the front cover of the hard disk and you can see the disk surface clearly. First, use a digital multimeter to check whether the drive coil of the head manipulator is broken. The normal resistance of the coil is about 20 Ω. Second, check whether the connection on the head is disconnected. Each disk has a head on both sides, and each head has two connections connected to an integrated chip on the head arm. The common model of this chip is H1710Q, which is used to convert the magnetic signal into an electrical signal and then send it to the circuit control panel for processing. The head resistance should be between 23 Ω ~ Between 26Ω. If the head resistance is large, the head is damaged. The head connection is connected to the chip H1710Q. The Pin resistance of the H1710Q should be around 1.7kb. If it is below 1.2kb, it indicates that the chip has been broken down and can be replaced with the cable.

If the connection on the head is broken, it can be replaced by a high-quality enamelled wire with a diameter of 2mm. One end is pressed on the metal shrapnel of the head, and the other end is welded to the corresponding H1710Q foot. Note: place the enamelled wire in the corresponding groove of the manipulator and fix it with a little 502 glue to prevent friction with the enamelled wire when the hard disk is rotated. After restoring each part of the hard disk, block the hard disk with 702 silica gel to prevent dust from entering. Because the size of the head is very small, it is not easy to put the patent wire on the top, it is best to operate under the magnifier. At this time, do not use too much force, otherwise it will cause damage to the head, so be careful. In this way, the hard disk can be restored to normal after the boot.

Hard Disk error prompt

For hard disks with "HDD Controller Error", most of them are caused by damage to the files on the hard disk Master Boot Record (MBR) for some reason. MBR is located in the 0 head/0 cylinder/1 fan area and is generated when fdisk.exe partitions hard disks. If the MBR is damaged, the microcomputer will prompt the HDD Controller Error. In fact, the file on the zero track is damaged. At this time, the Formatting cannot solve the problem and must be handled using special software. First, run the Scandisk command to check the C drive after the system disk is started on disk.

If the zero track is not damaged, use Norton8.0 to repair the file on the track. The specific practice is: Find a computer with the same built-in hard disk and the hard disk to be repaired model and with Norton8.0 software installed, connect the hard disk to the hard disk power cord, but the hard disk signal line is not connected, the jumper remains unchanged. ① Run the Disk Edit command after the instance is started. Select CONFIGURATION items from the menu Tools and cancel Read Only items. ② select Driver items from the drop-down menu O-biect, set the Hard Disk type to Physical Disk and click OK. ③ select the Partition Table item from the Ob-ject menu, unplug the signal line on the intact Hard Disk, and connect it to the Hard Disk to be repaired, click OK. ④ select Hard Disk1 and click OK, in the Write Ob-ject to Physical Sectors dialog box, set Cylinder, Side, and Sector to 0, 0, and 1, and click OK. Select Yes when the Warning dialog box appears. Exit the Norton software to restore the Master Boot information of the hard disk. After the reboot, the hard disk returns to normal, and the files in the original hard disk will not be lost.

If the hard disk with zero track damage is still processed with the Norton8.0 software in the above steps, only in step 3, set Cylinder, Side, and Sector to 1, 0, and 1, and click OK. Select Yes when the Warning dialog box appears. Exit the Norton software and restart the computer. In the BIOS settings hard disk Automatic Detection column, we can see that the CYLS value is reduced by one. If the original CYLS is 2112, it is changed to 2111. It indicates that the original hard disk partition table starts from the 0-cylinder of the C disk and starts from the 1-cylinder. Save the BIOS settings and exit. After partitioning and formatting, the hard disk returns to normal. If there are other hard disks, "HDD Controller Error" is displayed during self-check ". The above method is invalid and can only be decommissioned
