First, the basic way to set up
Generally, you can set up your router in 5 ways:
1. Console port connection terminal or running terminal simulation software of the microcomputer;
2. The Aux is connected with the remote terminal or the computer running terminal simulation software through the telephone line.
3. Via the TFTP server on the Ethernet;
4. Through the Telnet program on the Ethernet;
5. Through the SNMP network management workstation on Ethernet.
However, the first setting of the router must be done in the first way, when the hardware settings for the terminal are as follows:
Baud Rate: 9600
Data bits: 8
Stop bit: 1
Parity: None
Ii. State of command
1. router>
The router is in a user command state, at which point the user can see the connection state of the router, access other networks and hosts, but cannot see and change the contents of the router's settings.
2. router#
At the router> prompt, type enable, and the router enters privileged command state router#, which allows you to perform all user commands, as well as see and change the router's settings.
3. Router (config) #
At the router# prompt, type configure terminal, a prompt router (config) #, at which time the router is globally set, and the router's global parameters can be set.
4. Router (config-if) #; Router (config-line) #; Router (config-router) #;
The router is in a local setting, and you can set parameters for a local router.
5. >
The router is in Rxboot state, in the 60 seconds after the boot ctrl-break can enter this state, when the router can not complete the normal function, only software upgrades and manual guidance.
6. Set the dialog status
This is the state of a new router that automatically enters when it is turned on, and can enter this state by using the Setup command in Privileged command state, at which point the router can be set up by means of a dialog.
Iii. setting up the dialogue process
1. Display the prompt information
2. Setting of global parameters
3. Setting of interface parameters
4. Display results
Use the Setup dialog to avoid the cumbersome manual input, but it can not completely replace the manual settings, some special settings must also be manually entered the way to complete.
After you enter the Setup dialog process, the router first displays some information:
--- System Configuration Dialog ---
At any point you may enter a question mark '?' for help.
Use ctrl-c to abort configuration dialog at any prompt.
Default settings are in square brackets '[]'.
Does this tell you that you can type "anywhere in the setup dialog?" "With help from the system, press CTRL-C to exit the setup process and the default setting will appear in ' [] '. The router then asks whether to enter the Setup dialog:
Would to enter the initial configuration dialog? [Yes]:
If you press Y or enter, the router enters the Setup dialog process. First you can see the current status of each port:
First, would you like to see the current interface summary? [yes]:
Any interface listed with OK? value "NO" does not have a valid configuration
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
Ethernet0 unassigned NO unset up up
Serial0 unassigned NO unset up up
……… ……… … …… … …
The router then starts setting the global parameters:
Configuring Global Parameters:
1. To set the router name:
Enter host name [Router]:
2. Sets the Redaction (secret) into the privileged state, which is not displayed in clear text after setting:
The enable secret is a one-way cryptographic secret used
instead of the enable password when it exists.
Enter enable secret: cisco
