The usual backup is done by manually copying the data to another server, or by purchasing a special hardware backup system. Now we need a new backup system that can do a scheduled backup, start the standby system in time and notify the administrator when the accident occurs.

Our backup servers are housed in another room with at least a certain amount of space, and the backup server has a separate public network IP and a separate local area network with other servers, which can be accessed via LAN IP. In addition, we'd better set up a server (hereinafter referred to as a monitoring/assigning server) to make it complete the task of determining the status of other servers and the timely switching of user access to the destination address to start the backup service.

The second is the operating system and the corresponding settings. In order to ensure security, to avoid hackers using the same system vulnerability attacks, in addition to timely patching, it is best to install a third system for the server. Usually the server uses Windows 2000 or Linux, so we can install Windows 2003 for the backup server. Also, don't forget to set a complex and long system password. We then mapped the Web server's hard disk over the LAN IP to this machine so that we could easily back up the data through the program.

To conserve resources, we can centralize multiple services for backup on a single backup server, but this requires a reliable and secure level of performance for this server, as well as the need to install anti-virus software and hardware and software firewalls.
