Microsoft has long recommended that users use Group Policy to configure firewalls, and in real-world situations, administrators should also use Group Policy to control firewall settings. However, it is equally important to implement defense-in-depth, so administrators should spend enough time configuring local security policies to ensure that the firewall works even before the virtual machine downloads the security policy from the Active Directory. As an alternative solution, administrators can choose to manually configure the firewall when making the image. Patch management one of the most important things in making a virtual machine image is to install all patches for the original operating system used for mirroring. Enhanced Session Mode

In Hyper-V environments, using enhanced session mode when connecting to a virtual machine provides many advantages because it allows local resources to be used when interacting with virtual machines. Using enhanced session mode in a virtual machine does not require much advance preparation, as most configuration processes occur at the Hyper-V level. If you plan to use enhanced session mode, the virtual machine must run an operating system that supports this feature (such as Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, or Windows Server R2). and Remote Desktop Services must be enabled in the operating system. Making a virtual machine image is a very complex process.
