This Friday (May January 29, 2016), Canonical and Microsoft will work together to launch the first Azure Stack technology Preview based on the Ubuntu Linux operating system. The two companies aim to bring the latest cloud services to customers in demand, Canonical said in a press release. Built on the Microsoft Azure public cloud model, the stack promises to provide the best services for organizations from the company's data centers.

In addition, thanks to the Canonical Ubuntu Cloud operating system, Azure Stack can provide customers and developers with the same powerful Ubuntu Linux experience.

John Zannos, Canonical WW alliance and vice president of business development and cloud platform, said:

By using Ubuntu as part of Azure Stack, Canonical is working with Microsoft to bring more options and portability to the cloud. Azure Stack and Ubuntu ensure consistency in both public and private clouds in the data center.

Microsoft chose Ubuntu Linux because the latter is the most popular and preferred private cloud operating system, but Canonical announced that it is currently used for more than 64% of OpenStack deployments.
