SSL is an international standard encryption and identity authentication communication protocol, which is supported by your browser. SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) was originally developed by Netscape, the United States, and later became the standard for secure communications and transactions on the Internet.
The SSL protocol uses the client certificate of both communications and the CA root certificate to allow client/server applications to communicate in a way that cannot be overheard, and to establish a secure, trusted communication channel between the two sides of the communication. It has the following basic characteristics: information confidentiality, information integrity, mutual identification. It is mainly used to improve the safety factor of data between application programs. The entire concept of the SSL protocol can be summed up as a protocol that guarantees the transaction security of any client and server with Secure sockets, involving all TC/IP applications.
SSL Proxy: An HTTP proxy that supports the highest 128-bit encryption strength and can act as a proxy for accessing encrypted Web sites. Encrypted web sites are sites that start with https://. The standard port for SSL is 443.
By default, IIS uses port 443 as the SSL port. But you can also use any port if you need to. You can have many sites, each site has a non-SSL port number and an SSL port number. For example, you can have a site called Examplesite that can use 90 as a non-SSL port and 445 as an SSL port. User enters http://www.ExampleSite.com to access the non-SSL version. To access its SSL version, enter https://www.ExampleSite.com. They can also use IP: the number of ports, such as https://www.Example.com:445.
The "s" in https://is important because it tells the user that the browser uses the SSL port. If you use http://www.Example.com:445, then nothing happens, the browser just waits, but nothing shows up. If you use HTTPS for a non-SSL port, such as https://www.ExampleSite.com:90, the same situation will occur.
