Microsoft's virtualization platform Hyper-V is an innovative product that Microsoft has challenged VMware ESX Server in the virtualization field. However, users who are used to Microsoft's previous virtualization product Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 may be surprised by the changes brought about by Hyper-V. It can be said that Hyper-V is only different in terms of the virtual hard disk format (VHD. Therefore, we will introduce you in detail how to implement Hyper-V.
(1) Hyper-V Installation: the main difference between Hyper-V and Virtual Server 2005 is the product installation method. The installation of Virtual Server 2005 is similar to that of the installer, while Hyper-V is used as the function of Hyper-V Server or Windows Server 2008. In either case, hyper-V requires either Intel VT or a 64-bit processor for the AMD-V.
(2) Hyper-v manager: the second major difference is a completely changed management tool. Virtual Server 2005 is managed through a Web-based interface, while Hyper-V is managed based on the Hyper-V manager. Hyper-V manager is a tool embedded in the Microsoft management platform. It consists of various VM management functions. Starting or disabling all virtual machines is done here.
(3) Virtual Machine default location: Hyper-V saves the virtual machine in the "C: ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsHyper-Vvirtual machines" folder by default. You can right-click Hyper-V manager to change the Hyper-V settings.
(4) Virtual hard disk: VHD (. vhd) files are compatible with Virtual Server 2005 and Hyper-V. The existing Virtual Server 2005 Virtual machine is used as the Virtual machine created by Hyper-V. Refer to the. vhd file.
(5) virtual machine architecture file: a virtual machine has an architecture file. Virtual Server 2005 saves the installation information in the Virtual Machine file, retains the name, and adds the extension. vmc to the Virtual Machine name, such as MyVM. vmc. The Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) and the extension ". xml" form a complex name, for example, 00C5B017-B364-4F21-865A-28F47D8C530F.xml. Then Hyper-V saves the Virtual Machine installation information in the Virtual Machine folder.
(6) snapshots: Both Hper-V and VMware ESX Server have snapshot functions. This function can retain the status of the virtual machine in a certain operation, and the snapshot uses the same GUID name by default to keep in the folder. The GUID folder is also the Virtual Machine folder. This is different from the architecture file. There is no extension after the snapshot file.
(7) integration components: Hyper-V integration components are similar to Virtual machine additional functions of Virtual Server 2005. You can use a dedicated driver to improve performance by taking advantage of the VMBus architecture. You can use the Insert Integration Services installation disk to install the Integration components.
(8) Virtual Network and Manager: Hyper-V must use the network function to execute the virtual network function at least once. Therefore, an external host is composed of an internal network connected through a virtual machine and an external network connected through a NIC. Start the virtual network and manager from the Hyper-V panel.
(9) EDIT Wizard of virtual hard disk: you can start the edit wizard from the task panel of Hyper-V. Virtual hard disks of virtual machines are compressed, switching between Dynamic VHD and fixed-capacity VHD to expand the capacity of existing VHD.
(10) Hyper-V service: There are actually three types of Hyper-V managed services: Hyper-V image management service, Hyper-V Network Management Server, and Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management Service. Hyper-V Service uses the service menu options for data management.
