It seems to be quite good in general, and the ibus input method has not been set yet .. Multimedia support is really a little less. Wine sometimes can be used, but there are often garbled and fake-dead situations, which greatly affect the appearance of the image. You need to use Linux, install XP first, and then install Ubuntu8.10, it took a lot of twists and turns, mainly because of the partitioning problem. However, it is very convenient to use NortonPartitionMagic to adjust the partition. Just take a closer look. Now let's talk about the solution to another problem, that is, when the system is started

It seems to be quite good in general, and the ibus input method has not been set yet .. Multimedia support is indeed a little less. Wine can be used in some cases. However, garbled characters often lead to false positives, which greatly affects the appearance.

Linux is required, XP is installed first, and Ubuntu 8.10 is installed later. It takes a lot of time, mainly due to partition issues. However, it is very convenient to use Norton PartitionMagic to adjust partitions, just be careful.

Now let's talk about another solution, that is, which system is started first when the system is started. After Ubuntu is installed, it starts from Ubuntu by default. However, XP is usually used more often, so you want it to start by default.

"Many people on the Internet say to change the/boot/grub. conf file, and change default = 0 to defualt = 1. I am not sure whether this method is correct in Linux, but I know it is incorrect in Ubuntu because you cannot find this file in Ubuntu.

My machine is installed with Ubuntu 6.06 and windows XP. windows is installed first, and Ubuntu is installed later. After Ubuntu is installed, the startup sequence is automatically changed to the first choice. Therefore, Ubuntu is started by default. It is estimated that, like me, there are still a lot of windows time. If you want to enable windows by default, let's talk about how to change the startup sequence, you will find it quite simple.

The System Startup File in Ubuntu is/boot/grub/menu. lst.

Go to the Ubuntu system and enter sudo gedit/boot/grub/menu. lst on the terminal (you can also modify it with vi) to modify the file. After you press enter, enter the password, and then press Enter:

Launching a SCIM daemon with Socket FrontEnd...

Loading simple Config module...

Creating backend...

Loading socket FrontEnd module...

Starting SCIM as daemon...

GTK Panel of SCIM 1.4.4

Then, in the edit window of menu. list, the file content is long, but most of them belong to the annotation line with #, which is less useful.

Find the line starting with title (Note: Do not handle the line starting with #). There are 5 lines in my file, which are:

Title Ubuntu, kernel BRL. 15-23-386

Title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-23-386 (recovery mode)

Title Ubuntu, memtest86 +

Title Other operating systems:

Title Microsoft Windows XP Professional

These lines are not connected like this, and they are scattered in files. We write these five lines together to make it clearer. In fact, if you are careful enough, you will find that, except for the title in front of each line, these five lines are the boot menu items that appear when you start the system, therefore, the system reads the file at startup.

We can see that windows is in the last line, the row number is 4 (starting from 0), while Ubuntu is in the first line, and the row number is 0. When the system starts, it reads the menu. list file and determines which of the five options is entered by default based on an important parameter setting of the file. This parameter is default.

In the menu. list file, the row without # for the first time should be the row where default is located. If no modification has been made, it should be as follows:

Default 0

It means to start the 0th-line system by default, that is, the first item in the first 5 rows: Ubuntu system. Now you know what to do. Yes, it is OK to change 0 to 4. By default, it is selected for windows. After modification, remember to save the modification.

If the row number of your windows system is not 4, you can change it to the corresponding row number.

If you think there are too many options on the startup interface, you can delete some useless options. In fact, if you have tried every option on the startup interface, you will find that item 1, 2, and 3 are invalid (starting from 0 ). We can try to make these three items no longer displayed on the startup interface. The preceding five startup options have been found in the menu. lst file, so you can delete the places where item 1, 2, and 3 are located from the file. After deletion, remember to change the default startup Item back, because the original 4th items are now changed to 1st items (starting from 0 ). "

Press the above operation and restart the system. XP is started by default and the problem is solved.

In short, the terminal inputs sudo gedit/boot/grub/menu. lst, which has

Title Ubuntu, kernel BRL. 15-23-386

Title Ubuntu, kernel 2.6.15-23-386 (recovery mode)

Title Ubuntu, memtest86 +

Title Other operating systems:

Title Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Familiar? Actually, it is the default startup program you see when starting the machine,

Change default 0 to default 4.
