This article describes how to use the Microsoft-provided TFS2012 server for Team collaboration development in VS2012, a free default of only 5 users, mainly divided into two major strides in server configuration and client configuration.

First, server configuration

1. Create a visual Studio online account

Open VS2012, select Team Explorer (under the View menu), and in Team Explorer, select Register Team Foundation Service, open the VS sign-in page, if you have an account to log in directly, if you have not registered one.

Log in later to jump to the Create Account page.

Enter the information, where the account URL is important, be sure to remember (your TFS server address), then click the Create button to jump to the project creation page.

Enter the project name (such as kwstu2014), the other author chose the default, and then click Create Project can then create a wizard automatically jump to the project kwstu2014 Management page, if you want to multi-person development must add multiple users come in.

2. Add a team developer account for the project created in TFS.

3. Click on the Manage button in the Circled Red section to fill out the Account Management page.

Click Add user, this step must ensure that members of your team have a Microsoft account, if not please register first, if there is a direct input account to add, this server-side configuration is basically complete.

Second, the client configuration

1. In VS2012 Team Explorer, select Connect to Team Foundation server, pop-up link to Server dialog, select Server button to add server, enter information as follows:

After the link is successful, Team Explorer displays the following:

Select Source Explorer to open Source Explorer.

2. Map the server project directory to a local directory

In the Open Source Explorer, select the unmapped link on the right, map the local directory, and the directory must be mapped to the project root directory.

3. Upload the project to the server directory

Open the project you want to upload, and in Solution Explorer, right-click the top solution name and choose Add Solution to code management.

Return to Code Explorer, right-click on the project name on the left, select Check in Pending changes, and upload the project to the server.

The basic environment has been basically completed.

Three. How to use

Get the latest version of the server before using the rule modification, and change the location of a directed server check-in change.

1. Get the latest version of the server

Right-click the name of the project you want to modify in Code Explorer and select Get Latest version.

2. Update the modified code to the server

Right-click the name of the project you want to modify in Code Explorer and select Check in Pending Changes.
