When you burn a data disc under Windows XP, you copy the file you want to burn to a mirrored drive, and then burn it as a mirror. This process may seem complicated, but Windowx XP has done all the preparation for us, so just add the file you want to burn by adding it to the list on the disc by copying-pasting, dragging and dropping the file or selecting the file.

Here are two examples to illustrate the specifics of the operation and to explore the advantages and disadvantages of Windows XP burning data CDs.

The first example: now there are some BMP image files to burn to the disc. The first time you burn a file, but after the burn to find the file is a bit wrong, so modify the file after the same name, and then burn the rest of the files in. Now let's take a look at the process of operation.

1, put "1.bmp" onto the burner. A shortcut to the file we want to burn appears on the disc of the burner.

2, click "Write these files to CD" In the "CD Write task" box on the left. Windows XP opens the CD Write Wizard.

3, enter the name of the disc in the "CD name" and press "next" to continue.

4, the file is rarely only a little more than 1MB, the burner quickly completed the burning process and appears to have completed the prompts. Then if you want to burn one or more of the same discs, check "Yes, write these files to another CD".

When we're done, we'll open the burner's properties and look at the remaining capacity of the disc after it's been burned.

Although this file is only 1.37MB, but after burning is still left 632MB, with the 656-632=24MB. Minus the 1.37MB of the file, which is probably a waste of 22MB, which is very much like a multiple-section write, is this the way Windows XP is burned?

5, as a result of burning good later found that this file is a bit wrong, we immediately modify and want to burn back to the CD. When we press the "DEL" button to delete this "1.bmp" file on the disc, there is an error, obviously under Windows XP can not be burned files have been selectively deleted. But we can overwrite it with the same filename.

6, we again drag and drop the modified "1.bmp" to the burner, Windows XP Confirmation File Replacement dialog box, we press "yes" to continue, and complete the burn process.

7. After the burn, we'll take a look at the remaining capacity of the disc.

found that the same easy file to overwrite the original file or the use of 632-617=15MB, wasting about 13MB. The space-wasting situation is becoming more and more like a multiple-section writing method. Is it really?

8, the rest of our files are burned into the CD.

9, after the completion of the CD to install the Nero burning-rom computer to see the use of the situation.

The results confirmed that the multiple-section approach was used to burn, with the process forming a total of three sections. Can this multiple-segment disc continue to be added by other burning? The answer is NO! That's a shame.
