Microsoft has integrated Microsoft NetMeeting 3.01 in Windows Server, which allows users to perform real-time video, audio, and data communications on internet/intranet. It provides a new way of talking, meeting, working, and sharing programs within the company, between the company and the company, through Internet/intranet. It has the following features:
(1) Sending a call to the user via internet/intranet;
(2) Talk with users through Internet/intranet;
(3) Sharing applications and documents with others;
(4) Collaborate with others in a shared application;
(5) Sending the document to another person;
(6) to communicate with others through drawing in a shared whiteboard;
(7) Send the message to everyone in the "chat".
This software can be used in small local area network within the unit, it is a very ideal interaction tool to communicate with other staff conveniently, assign tasks and arrange work. Here's how to apply NetMeeting to a small office network.
(i) Install and set up NetMeeting
(1) Open the subdirectory of the system's Drive "program Files\netmeeting" and click Conf.exe to eject the Microsoft NetMeeting Introduction window.
(2) Click "Next" button to enter personal information (name, last name, e-mail address, location, and comment) using NetMeeting in the pop-up Personal Information dialog box. Click "Next" when you have finished typing.
(3) In the pop-up dialog box, cancel the "Log on to directory server when NetMeeting starts" option, click "Next". In the "Speed to connect to this network" interface, select the "LAN" option and click "Next"
In the pop-up dialog box, set whether to add a shortcut, according to the user's own request to select.
(4) Click "Next", set the audio, according to the user needs to check the sound card and microphone. Set up and click "End". The working interface pops up.
Two The application of NetMeeting
1. Call
On the toolbar of the NetMeeting main interface, add the IP address of the LAN user, select "Automatic" or "Network (TCP/IP)" in "Use" and click "Call" to contact the computer you are calling.
2. Chat
If the connection is successful, click the "Chat" button, or click the "Chat" command on the Tools menu to eject the Chat window. In the Message text box under the Chat window, enter the chat content, press ENTER, or click the "Send Message" button with the mouse, and the conversation will be delivered to the chat window. And the other side of the chat content, it is very easy to display in your "chat" window.
Tip: The chat window is similar to "Notepad" with Windows, where users can save, add, and delete chat content. And the record content includes call time, name and so on. Send a message to select each person in the chat room or select one of them individually.
3. Use Whiteboard
The electronic whiteboard is very powerful, so let's take a look at its ability.
(1) View graphics:
In the daily work, often need to send some pictures to a room staff, here, it is very simple to achieve, with a digital camera or scanner to the picture into the computer, and then paste it into the electronic whiteboard on the line.
(2) Painting and writing:
This feature complements information that is not understandable in messages or language chats, and truly implements multimedia interactive meetings.
(3) Scratching and mapping
Users can grab a picture of another application and paste it on a whiteboard, and then discuss the footage together.
4. Send the file
NetMeeting in addition to sending timely sound and video, but also timely transmission of various types of documents. The steps are as follows:
(1) Find the object that needs to transfer the file, select the "File Transfer" command on the Tools menu, or click the File Transfer button to eject the "Transfer files" window.
Select the file you want to transfer, and the file will be sent out automatically when you click the "Transfer" button. When finished, the system prompts for a successful transfer.
(2) The method of receiving files is similar to that of transmitting files. When a colleague sends a file to you, there will be a file transfer Information window that tells the user the name of the file, the size of the file, who sent the file, and the progress of the file's transmission. After the transfer completes, prompts the user to transmit completes. Click the "End" button, close the window, click the "Open" button to open the file, click "Delete" to delete the file.
Note: By default, NetMeeting saves the files sent by the user in the NetMeeting\Received Files folder.
5. Sharing programs
(1) Click the "Share" button on the toolbar in the NetMeeting panel and click on the application name.
(2) After completing these steps, the other attendees are not able to operate on the shared program, and if you want other users to use the shared program, click the Collaborate button on the NetMeeting toolbar. All users who want to use the application must click Collaborate. With this feature, each attendee can control the shared application at some point.
(3) If you want to work in an application that other users share, click the Collaborate button. Other users of the shared application must also click the Collaborate button.
(4) If you want to stop sharing the application, click the "Share" button on the NetMeeting toolbar, and then tap the name of the application you want to stop sharing.
